It’s not every day you have 18 clubs entering 80 teams to a tournament, This is the largest festival Beccs RFC has ever held and to only run over a little was fantastic.
Thank You’s
Festivals don’t happen by themselves and in Anthony Kempster, Beccs are very fortunate to have quite possibly the most organised gent in western Europe.
On behalf of the hundreds upon hundreds of people attending and Beccs, huge thanks go to Anthony Kempster for masterminding the day (and his own U10s age group will be run and day run again in two weeks). As if the 5 hours marking out the pitches (6:30am-11:30am) was not enough on Saturday, a 5am alarm call kicked off the preparations on Sunday until the clear up conclusion c.3:45pm.
A massive thank you to everyone who volunteered and assisted at the festival, without whom it simply would not have been possible. Again many of whom the festival not for their age group.
….. and onto the Rugby

There were some very good teams on display with pace and physicality several notches above where we are. Our squad competed very well in the circumstances.
Some things that particularly stood out for me;
- Sportsmanship, accepting the results with great dignity and respect for their opposition.
- Heads remained held high.
- To a man everyone tried their hardest and did not give up.
- Smiles on faces.
- Everyone available played, two teams with 18 players.
- Some silverware in the form of Vase runners-up.
