We had managed to sort a last minute fixture aimed at those boys who had not been involved in the Kent tournament. Battersea Ironsides were taking their strongest 15 to a 10 a side tournament, so we agreed we'd play none of our Kent starting 15. We had a little cracker. The game started very physically with both sides going into contact at full pelt but Ty broke through his man and scored early to instil confidence in our lot. Connor delivered the extras. Things slowed down a bit before Charlie got on the end of a typical Kunle break and dived over to provide a cushion. Again Connor obliged with the conversion before scoring his own try with a searing run down the left wing. Ironsides fought hard and our forwards showed a lot of courage in holding their own, before the Ironsides ground out a good try. The half ended with Harrison making sure he was in the right position to receive a pass from the ever-obliging Kunle and touch down in the corner (eventually!). Half time 26-5 to Beccs.
The second half was won by the Ironsides with two well-taken tries, although their kicker couldn't quite sort the conversions. While at 26-15 Beccs never looked like losing the game, the spirit and speed of the match never wained. In the final minute, off the back of a scrum Charlie propelled himself at the Battersea defence like a rocket and touched down despite the attentions of the Ironside's backs.
A good fixture against pleasant and worthy opposition, which we will look to repeat.
