An excellent first 15-a-side fixture for the U14s

Blisteringly hot Sunday morning, supporters treated to a fantastic first 15-a-side competitive match for these age groups, played in great spirit, producing between the two teams 10 trys, 7 of which were converted.

First and foremost congratulations to both sets of squads for getting through the almost unseasonably warm morning. Boy it was hot, very hot. So hot in fact the pre-planned three sets of 15 minute games, with a breaks between each for coaching guidance turned out to be an absolute master-stroke of timing, kudos to coach Julian @ Edenbridge for that idea!
Lots to take in for both squads on a full size pitch, 8 man scrums, line-outs, as well as the myriad of new rules.

Our extended thanks to Edenbridge for an excellent fixture, played in a great spirit, competitive and very evenly matched, Beccs were outplayed at the breakdown of rucks in particular, and Bridge moved the ball wide down the line efficiently through the hands very well all morning. A couple of stand out try saving tackles and younger players playing up of particular note. A great final team try score with a switch play for the final play of the game to finish with too. All should be very proud of their efforts. We look forward to the return fixture in the new year, and particularly wish you all well in your league fixture with Worthing this weekend (22/Sept).

From Beccs perspective, so so pleasing to see that training session structures can be executed on match days. Greatly aided by the seniors last week on scrumaging and line-outs too. Particularly inside our own 22, a neat passage of play and pre-planned backs move. With Kingsley at 10 orchestrating, fed to Ben at 12, who passed back inside to Toby coming off his wing fully 80 yards out in the middle of the pitch, utilising his pace to leave a blazing trail of defenders and scoring, maybe we'll address coaching the standard inside our own 22 "exit-strategy" next week boys .....or not.... Again very well done to all the squad, on a good collective effort and work rate in those conditions, see you can do it!

Scoring Sequence:
First Third (15mins) - Trys 2-1
7-0; 7mins - Fraser try & Kingsley conv.
7-7; 14mins - Bridge try & conv
14-7; 15mins - Fraser try & Kingsley conv.

Second Third (15mins) - Trys 2-1
21-7; 7mins - Kingsley try & conv.
21-12; 12mins - Bridge try
28-12; 14mins - Toby try & Cathal conv

Final Third (15mins) - Trys 2-2
28-17: 1min - Bridge try
33-17: 8mins - Kingsley try
40-17: 12mins - Fraser try & Cathal conv
40-22: 15mins - Bridge try

Trys: Fraser x3, Kingsley x2, Toby x1
Conv: Kingsley x3, Cathalx2 - Some great kicking too, as the trys weren't all under the posts!

Finally, as usual thank you Al McGill for excellently and fairly refereeing proceedings.
Man of the match to Oliver.D for making more than a couple key tackles when bridge were moving the ball wide, elusive running and work rate. Fraser and Toby's captaincy for getting the group together. Mrs H for cleaning the shirts this week!
A warm welcome also to Zach who had a fine performance on his debut outing in a Beccs shirt.

Squad (19): Aaron, Fraser, Quinn, George, Oliver.D, Ewan, Cathal, Jake, Christian, Fin, Zach, Leo, Kingsley, Ellis, Oliver.D, Adam, Louie, Toby, Ben.
