Competitive throughout, close, edge of the set and thoroughly entertaining.
Beccs decimated by injuries, illness and unavailability. A fine effort from the squad, many of whom playing out of position, and in a variety of different positions throughout the game.
Thanks to Sittingbourne for making the trip, and providing a really competitive fixture, even more impressive with a limited squad of 13 boys, who gave it absolutely everything over the full 50mins. On another day, we would have lost by 3/4 trys. Full credit to the Sittingbourne squad and coaches on their excellent efforts.
Particularly encouraging to see this week (a) contribution of everyone to the collective team effort, (b) evidence of last week's rucking techniques & drills being utilised by both forwards and backs, (c) positive communication, and (d) above all our work-rate. Some defensive areas to work on, overall a very positive, and above all fun and enjoyable morning. It's always a team effort, thank you Toby and Ollie for supporting and running on the water bottles and words of encouragement, whilst unavailable through injury too. Proud of you all, very well done boys.
7-0: 5mins Beccs - Fraser try & Cathal conversion - solid scrum inside our own half, #8 pick up & gallop under the sticks.
12-0: 8mins Beccs - Fraser try.
12-5: 22 mins Sittingbourne try
12-10 - 45mins Sittingbourne - Try in the corner
Man of the match to Josh the "bulldozer", playing out of position in the centre, taking several defenders to bring him down thanks to some hard and direct running lines all morning. Fraser and Kingsley joint captains for their leadership, and as usual Al McGill excellently conducting proceedings form the middle with the whistle. Mrs D for cleaning the shirts this week too.
Squad (16): Aaron, Quinn, Jake, Oliver.B, Christian, George, Fin, Fraser, Leo, Kingsley, Josh, Oliver.D, Cathal, Adam, Ellis, Dylan.
