U14s playing squad: Carefully read the below. Training including many basics like passing and running from depth, to latching, communication and collectively working together, produces a structure and skill set, that was collectively displayed by you all in those conditions at Whitstable.
Our handling was excellent, passing the ball at the right times, not over committing to breakdown, playing with a bar soap on a bog of a pitch is not easy. On a day and pitch like that, where it is so heavy, it can feel like you have played 2/3 games as opposed to 1, there is no option other than to play as a team. This result started on the training paddock last week, all that handling practice, depth of the back line in attack, pressurising oppo in defence, running and support lines, latching and communication, which may appear boring, actually works !
Thanks again to all the travelling supporters for your commitment, car sharing, getting a squad of 21 at an away game is testament to that. And good luck with shirt washing !
Extended thanks to our hosts Steve and Robert and Whitstable RFC for most kind hospitality, who despite having just 13 players, never stopped playing and running at us, huge effort to do that for 50 minutes, even more so when the oppo have 8 subs to freshen things up every 10 minutes. Likewise to independent ref travelling from Canterbury, who allowed the game to flow, fairly and evenly officiated.
Captain for the day birthday boy Ellis, and whilst all the team played their part in one of the best team performances of the season, man of the match to Toby for some strong running for his two trys. Particular mention too to Adam for consistently having zero regard for his own safety, putting his body in the way of the strong Whitstable ball carriers, and not letting go until they went to ground !
Scoring sequence:
5-0: 1 min, Fraser try
10-0: 7min, Toby try
15-0: 13mins, Oliver D
20-0: 21 mins, Fraser

The great benefit, thank you Steve.H, of having elevated video footage, aside from the great balcony view, is that we are able to address and provide an analysis of how the scores were achieved, And above all, exactly what we have been working on in training is working and being brilliantly executed on the field of play, yes really !
And who doesn't love a mud slide every now and then
Very well done again to all the squad, very proud
