Beccs RFC vs Maidstone RFC

Sunday 14th November marked the first time for over 3 years that we have played against Maidstone RFC.
The match got off to a strong fast start with good tackles and running from both sides, after soaking up some early pressure Beccs turned the ball over and ran the first try in down the right wing finished off by James , this seemed to break Maidstone’s initial tough defence which allowed Beccs to score a few more tries in quick succession with sustained pressure from Teddy, Brody, Barney and Fin.
Good rush defence and solid tackling in the 2nd half achieved further tries from Rufus, Teddy, Barney and Brody. Some excellent catch pass handling and breaks through half gaps, and the scrum was dominant with a number of steals against the head, and great counter rucking from Cian, Jack Delay and Cooper.
This was by far the best performance by the squad and every player gave 100% in defence and attack, and players rotating in different positions to improve their positional skills and pitch awareness. Special mentions to Louis Edwards for great distribution at scrum half, Jackson for some very strong running and change of direction on attack, Teddy for man of the match award and try saving tackle at the end, and Eoin for taking one for the team, fully committed as usual at the final minute.
There is always room for improvement and there will be stronger teams we will play in the next few weeks, but the team should be very proud of the performance, great work rate and with keeping the opposition to nil points! The Maidstone coaching team were very complimentary of the Beccs boys and we look forward to the return fixture next month.
