Beccles had the proverbial game of two halfs in their final league game of the season against Ipswich YM. After conceding 24 points in the first half Beccles came back to draw the game 24 – 24.
Gardiner was moved in to the back row for his first game in that position. Sutton came in on the bench. The first half was keenly contested but it was Ipswich who were able to take their chances and move in to a commanding lead. Three converted tries and a penalty put them in to a commanding 0-24 lead at half time. In the second half the game changed around and it was Beccles who were scoring points. Holtzer opened the scoring before man of the match Gedney added one of his own. It was then the turn of the Armstrong brothers to score. First Stuart then Cam late on. Gedney added the final conversion to tie the scores up.
