Beccles travelled to Canvey in the search of their first league points.

Beccles travelled to Canvey in the search of their first league points. With a number of injuries and unavailability's this meant that six changes to the team had to be made, four of whom were debutants,Ryan Guntripp coming in at lock,Matt Goode back row,Alan Cooper at inside centre,Stuart Armstrong fullback.

Beccles began the game strongly with some good forward play, man-of-the-match Matt Goode, who is sponsored by Beccles Super-fry, was disrupting Canveys lineout, this was enabling a number of breaks from the Beccles pack. After a number of phases the ball was eventually fed to Rob Wilson; the Beccles no.8 for one of his trademark crash over trys the conversion came from Stuart Murray to give Beccles a 0-7 lead .

This spurred Canvey into waves of attack which Beccles absorbed with good tackling from Guntripp and Maeer to thwart Canveys attempts, eventually a gap was found out wide and Canvey scored so the scoreline was 7-7,Rix jnr found himself in the bin after a harsh refereeing decision so Beccles were down to 14 men at half time.

Both teams began the second half eager for points but it was Beccles who were next on the score sheet when Davey-Durak found himself in space and then hot footed half the length of the pitch fending off Canveys fullbacks attempts to stop nim before scoring under the posts unfortunately the conversion attempt sailed just wide. Score 7-12

Beccles were caught napping and they were uncharacteristically shoved back off the the scrum,Canvey knowing they had for once the upper hand built off this and it wasn't long before Beccles gave away a penalty in front of the posts which Canvey converted to bring the score to 10-12.

Beccles discipline slipped again to gift Canvey yet another penalty which they slotted over to take the lead for the first time in the match to 13-12. Beccles felt the match was still for their taking and began to build momentum again, but with the last few minutes ticking on the clock a kick through was charged down and the loose ball was gathered by a Canvey player to agonizingley touch down in front of the posts to seal Canveys win with the final score being 20-12, and denying any sniff of even a bonus point for the visiting team to take home up the A12.

This has been a frustrating start to the season for Beccles and much needed needed support is needed down at Beefmeadow tomorrow (k.o 3pm) when Beccles take on Ipswich.
