Beccles 10 v Old Streetonian 13

The first half started off very tight with both teams keeping it around the breakdown area. Efforts from Ling and Johnstone kept Old Street at bay setting up good ball for Izuzquiza to feed his back line. However it was Old Street who struck first taking advantage of some sloppy defence to score under the sticks, extra's added. The Bulls took the early try as a realisation that they would have to step up their game to beat their relegation rivals. Old Street made their intentions clear attempting to pin Beccles in their own half, but this was quickly snuffed out by back three Harmer, Duruk and youngster Armstrong making yards out of their 22.
Strong lineout's from Wilson and Coleman saw the perfect platform to be set, a strong line break from Wade made an easy two on one for Long to run it in without trouble, Wade added the extra's. The Bulls ended out the half with Cooper getting a lot of quick ball and using it well but the efforts were kept out as Beccles made crucial errors when trying to keep the ball alive.
Half Time Score: 7-7
The second half started in a similar fashion with back row combination Starks, rix and Hinsley making good yards off the back of set plays, but The heat started to show its tole on the Bulls, giving away silly penalties which were converted by Old Street.
With relegation in sight neither team was giving an inch but it was Old Street who started to make mistakes giving away a penalty well within Wade's range which was then converted.
Now moving into the last quarter Beccles brought on Williamson to give a much needed injection into the back line. Hard fends from Duruk saw him break the line but to no avail as Old Street were quick to get into the breakdown area.
Beccles' fitness was starting to show late in the second half as silly mistakes were made again around the rucks. Old street took advantage converting the penalty.
The final score ended 13-10, it was a great battle from the bottom three sides with Beccles yet again missing out on some crucial and much needed points. The Bulls now look to their last two games against Enfield and Hampstead for points to try and secure their spot in this league for next season.
