Welcome to our Club

We aspire to be the club of opportunity, development and fun for girls and boys
Emyr Roberts, Chair of Junior Cricket, Beckenham C

Above all else, at Beckenham CC we aim for all our young cricketers to enjoy their cricket, develop and fulfil their potential and achieve a lifelong love of the game. Our Junior cricket programme is one of the largest of any club in Kent and South East London, with over 325 children taking part last year. We aspire to be the club of OPPORTUNITY, DEVELOPMENT and FUN.

We are a community-based club. While we have competitive Junior teams at all age groups, we recognise it is as important we provide high quality opportunities for all children aged 5 - 18 to give cricket a go, enjoy it, make new friends, and achieve their potential. We know that achieving potential comes in different forms for different people.

This may be playing County or Area representative cricket, aspiring to be selected for our top U11/U13 hardball teams, playing for one of our U9 teams in friendly softball matches, or simply coming along, progressing and enjoying a weekly coaching session. We focus on each young cricketer.

Our Junior Cricket Programme has grown in recent years and we have achieved significant success across our age group teams. Our Junior members include a high number of County and Area age group cricketers. But we also pride ourselves on offering high quality cricket opportunities for all. We are an ambitious club, continually aiming to improve what we offer and to provide the right climate and atmosphere for children to grow, enjoy and develop a love of cricket within an inclusive, friendly and exceptional environment.

Our Key Objectives

• Ensure that every child enjoys their cricket
• Provide excellent coaching year-round and regular match play opportunities for all
• Ensure that every child develops their cricket skills and achieves their playing potential
• Have teams in each age group at different ability levels, from challenging for League and Cup honours to playing in intra-club matches
• Provide a pathway for our Juniors to transition into our Senior sides
• Ensure that all our Juniors demonstrate the right values, behaviour and respect, display sportsmanship and uphold the true Spirit of Cricket.

Our Club Mark Status

We are proud to have achieved the nationally recognised ECB “Club Mark” accreditation status that demonstrates our commitment and good practice in four key areas:

• Playing and Coaching Opportunities
• Duty of Care, Safeguarding and Protecting Children
• Community Links
• Management and Administration

The 2020 Season

We will field the same number of Junior teams as last year (19 across all age groups) with a new team at U17. Our teams will play in Kent/club softball festivals, Kent Girls’ festivals, the North Kent Junior League and Cup. competitions.

New in 2020 is our focused coaching programme providing technical, skills-based coaching that matches the game-play needs of our young cricketers. These will run on Sunday mornings and Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from April through to August.

I look forward to welcoming you to Beckenham Cricket Club this summer.
