A Message from Matt Grice

Our aim is to provide the best cricketing experience we can for each of our Junior cricketers.
Matt Grice, Director of Junior Coaching

Beckenham Cricket Club: A Club for All

Junior cricket at Beckenham continues to thrive and we are excited to announce several positive changes to our Junior coaching programme for 2020.

The aim of the new programme is to provide structured coaching in smaller, age and ability appropriate groups so that our softball, transitioning and hardball cricketers of all ability levels have high quality coaching to enable them to progress as cricketers.

We continue to offer unrivalled match play opportunities to all our cricketers at U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17 levels, in festivals, tournaments, the North Kent Junior League and Cups, and the girls (year 4-6) also participate in the Kent Women and Girls' Kwik Cricket festivals (four across the season).

There will be regular communication between Team Managers and the Coaching team to identify and then address individual and team player development. Added to this is a move to provide more focused team-based coaching outside of match play for our U11s, U13s and U15s with new sessions on Mondays (U11s) and Fridays (U13s and U15s).

For our older Junior cricketers, I will act as the liaison with the senior section to ensure those of our Juniors who are able and ready are invited to attend the appropriate senior mid-week training sessions and considered for selection for our senior sides. In 2020, for the first time, the club is fielding six senior sides on a Saturday, playing in the Kent League (1st and 2nd XI) and the Kent Regional League (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th XI) and two sides in friendly cricket on a Sunday (Wizards and Merlins).

To explain the rationale for the new coaching programme and outline in more detail plans for 2020, we will be holding briefing sessions for parents of our U11 and U13 cricketers before at Beckenham CC on Thursday 26 March (U11s from 6.30pm and U13s from 7.30pm). We will send reminders closer to the date and look forward to seeing you there and answering your questions.

Our aim is to provide the best cricketing experience we can for each of our Junior cricketers. Registration is now open and we look forward to welcoming your children and you this season.
