The gradual launch of Junior cricket coaching for U11 and U13 players begins at Beckenham CC

With goodwill and a lot of effort we will safely, gradually open Junior cricket
Amanda Combes, U11 Age Group Lead

Junior Cricket is happy to announce the gradual start of nets for U11 and U13 players, under the latest guidelines required by the ECB and the government.

Initially, weekly nets sessions in the artificial nets will be held on Mondays and Fridays from 4.00pm to 7.00pm.

Groups of up to five players will be supervised to run six (3 for U11s, 3 for U13s), 55 minute sessions. The nets will be coordinated via Mat Flint and Amanda Combes respectively. A weekly Doodle poll to secure coached nets will be issued to registered club Members via Pitchero.

If you haven't completed your child's Registration or Membership, you can use this link https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/beckenhamcricketclub2/payments .

As the rules evolve over the coming weeks, the Junior cricket team will increase capacity and arrange more nets and coaching including softball. Look out for regular updates on the site with news of more Junior cricket in the coming weeks.

We need all parents, players and coaches to recognise that there will be a number of differences in the way nets will be run, social distancing to be observed etc, but with goodwill and a lot of effort we should be able to do things safely.

Below is a summary of the operating guidelines Junior Cricket have developed to enable Junior cricket to start. Please familiarise yourself and brief your child too.

Many thanks

Amanda Combes and Mat Flint

Safety Considerations:

i) Upon arrival all players will be checked in and reminded about social distancing rules which must be observed. Failure of players to observe the rules may result in their exclusion from sessions in future
ii) All players must have their own hardball kit and (marked) cricket ball to take part. Players must space their bags at the side of the nets, enforced by the coach
iii) Parents drop off and leave the nets area. Parents may remain on the ground but must observe social distancing requirements, staying 20 metres away from the nets at all times
iv) Players must bring their own water and hand sanitizer
v) Each bowler will wait to take their turn bowling on marked spots two metres apart – enforced by the players and coach. Bowlers to avoid contact with stumps (except the stumps they’re aiming for with the ball!), nets, padding sheets. No saliva or sweat to be used on the ball at any time
vi) Coach to stand at least two metres back from delivery stumps, to the side until delivery
vii) Batsman to knock the ball back or pick up and roll whilst wearing cricket gloves

Facilities:

i) No toilet facilities will be available on the grounds and the pavilion is closed
ii) Coaches must bring a mask, gloves and hand sanitizer for their own use

Administrative requirements:

i) Amanda Combes (U11 Lead) and Mat Flint (U13 Lead) will coordinate communications and bookings with the respective players and parents
ii) Children cannot attend if they or someone in their household is displaying Covid19 symptoms or currently isolating due to someone in the household having the virus
iii) Amanda and Mat will liaise with coaches in the event the weather results in sessions being cancelled and keep parents informed on the day.
iv) Any child taking part MUST be registered on Pitchero (which includes parental consent) and have paid the relevant Junior Membership
