The U9s competition to find the U9 County Champions

Huge thanks to all players and parents this season, and the Herculean efforts over eight hours on Sunday!
John Eaton, Broncos Manager

Kent CCC organise the annual Mini-8s Festival. Clubs across Kent enter their U9s team into regional heats with the aim of qualifying for the finals held at Kent CCC's Beckenham ground in September.

It's a big deal. Many Beckenham U11 and U13 players have taken part in heats and finals over the past few years with success. This season, three teams were entered in two, closely fought qualifying divisions, the Broncos, the Bears and the Diamonds - our girls team.

The Broncos made it to the finals on Sunday 12 September, where they played seven matches throughout the day, winning their pool and heading into the quarter-finals, where they finished a very tired, but creditable eighth place in Kent.

Their Team Manager throughout the qualifying and finals campaign was John Eaton. John acted as motivational guru, mind-reader and cricket whisperer; ably assisted at the finals by Matt and Dan Grice; primarily present in a parental rather than coaching capacity!

Beckenham cricketers and Young Leaders, Eve and Ella Peters acted as Club umpire and scorer throughout the day with distinction.

All the parents and families at Beckenham who came along to support, cajole, feed and water the players provided vocal encouragement throughout the day.

All the boys and girls who took part in the qualifying rounds in the summer with the Broncos, Bears and Diamonds learnt a lot.

To the Broncos at the finals: Luke, Jake, Ibrahim, Dexter, Harrison, Freddie, Sebastian, (their hat-trick taking Captain) Adam, and Aahil - thank you and well done!
