Lockdown is finally lifting and the great summer season of cricket is almost upon us.

Training & Re-opening of Nets
Unfortunately, due to works that need to be done to the outfield and the netting, the nets will remain closed until Saturday 24th April. Adult training will kick off on Tuesday 27th April from 6:15pm until dusk. Training will be on Tuesday and Thursday night every week as usual from then onwards. I can only apologise that the nets are not opening sooner, we have tried to get the Club to expedite the Ground work that needs to be done but having not done any last season, the works were more extensive this season and the Club wasn't able to do much more than it has.

Ground Force Day - Saturday 17th April

Our annual club Ground Force day will be taking place on Saturday 17th April from 9am. This is a really crucial day for the club in order to complete various tasks to get the ground up to scratch for the start of the Cricket season. Social distancing will need to be maintained but we hope that as many of you will still show up to help out. Turnout has been good in the last few years which has meant that the tasks have been completed quickly and there has been more time for beers and socialising. Beers will once again be available this year, hopefully courtesy of The Chairman, and there will be space to socialise outside the bar area. Due to the Government's rules, we will need to be seated when drinking and in groups of 6, so please bring a camp chair just in case and I hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Pre Season schedule
The pre-season schedule has been confirmed as the following:

Monday 3rd May: Club Day intra-squad game (1s/2s squads - Home - 12noon)

Further fixtures will be arranged if availability allows and we can find further away grounds to host.

Start of League Season
The Kent Cricket League has confirmed that we will have a "normal" season of fixtures starting as planned on 8th May with social distancing regulations in place that match the government guidelines on the day of the fixture. This is the same in the Kent Regional League with the season starting on 1st May.

Opening league fixtures
1st XI: Holmesdale (8th May - Foxgrove - 12noon)
2nd XI: Holmesdale (8th May - Away - 12noon)
3rd XI: Simba (15th May - Jubilee - 1pm)
4th XI: Streatham & Marlborough (1st May - Warren - 1pm)
5th XI: Chislehurst & West Kent (8th May - Warren - 1pm)
6th XI: Catford & Cyphers (1st May - Away - 1pm)

I look forward to seeing all of you outside, and then inside, the bar for plenty of beers throughout the summer. It will be great to get back to the Bee Hive, to hear stories of plenty of Murrays (Good Wins) across all the teams and to hopefully see the Chairman around buying a few drinks now he is back in Beckenham!

Until then, take care and stay safe.
