When David & Terry Reader 1st came to the recreation ground there was one key thing missing from the run down pavilion, as at the top of the run down building the clock was missing. Its always been a topic of conversation on how we went about getting it restored, but we just either didn't have the money or other pressing matters came up.

Back in early October it became a topic of conversation again, mainly due to the isthmian league social media account having a picture of the run down clock tower attached to any news item for the club !!. So we took the decision to start to source a new clock, which we managed to find from Hawkins Clocks.

Work started to restore the clocktower in early November after we had ordered and paid for our new clock. The team at Bedfont Sports cladded the tower, along with all the windows upstairs, repaired all the Dorma roofs and also restored the weather vain we had installed a number of years ago.

This week we finally had delivery of our new clock and the last thing that needed to be sorted from when we took over the old building is now completed. Its fitting that Dave's last gift to his community was the clocktower, which now sits proud on the roof of our club, and can be seen for miles around. Im heartbroken he never got to see it as it was something he always wanted to have sitting proudly on the roof, but to know its now completed after he started the work on it before he passed away gives me a great sense of pride, and will be a little reminder of everything Dad achieved in such a short space of time.

We hope our friends at the Isthmian league can see to it that they might use the new picture moving forward !!!

So if your wandering through the park, or visiting for the day or flying into Heathrow Airport you will always know the time, with the clocktower now proudly on display, day & night as it lights up the Bedfont night sky.
