Dulwich beaten in a David vs Goliath battle

Sports went into this FA Cup tie knowing that there opponents would need to not be at there best and we would need to give our best showing to continue our cup dream. A further blow was added before KO when full back Aiden Oreilly was not fit and midfield talisman RIcky Wellard was unavailable, leaving our young Eagles side with an even tougher task. Sports boasted around 100 away fans which in normal circumstances would be impressive but the 1600 plus crowd meant we were well outnumbered. However our little army of young Eagles fans, with Drum and horn in hand made sure they could be heard throughout the game.

The opening 20 minutes saw the home side have loads of the ball but no real chances. Sports then grew into the game and Darryl Sanders found Jordan Espirit with his back to goal, he rolled in skipper Joe Jackson who did the rest to spark wild celebrations in the sports ranks on 31 minutes. Just before half time sports looked to double there lead but the trip in the box on espirit was not given, the sports triker was just too honest trying to stay on his feet, half time 0-1 Sports.

The 2nd half was one way traffic as sports looked to protect what they had, Dimi in the Sports goal pulled off 2 great saves and the home side could not find a way past Sports mean defence.

Full time sparked great celebrations with the players and our band of loyal supporters, next up we have been rewarded with a home tie against high flying Sholing FC.
