The BJB Under 10s provide quality rugby in an enjoyable, inclusive and structured environment supported by qualified RFU coaches. In keeping with all Bedfordshire and East Midlands rugby clubs, we play under the RFU's 'New Rules of Play' - a deliberately child-centric approach to the game. Through this we introduce children to rugby though a phased approach to learning the skills they will then use for the rest of their playing days (and the social skills and friendships that will help them throughout life).
We are passionate about what we do, but what we are not about winning matches at all costs. The core values of rugby – Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship – are at the heart of what we do and our goal is to allow all our players to experience the fellowship, fun and excitement that rugby offers. We also work hard to create a fun environment off the pitch for players and families to make new friends and build team work.
The focus of our 2018-19 season will be introducing our players to rucks, mauls and 3-player scrums whilst continuing to develop tackling, passing, use of space, support play, continuity etc. We train at Bedford Athletics’ ground on Wentworth Drive from 10am to 11.30am on a Sunday morning and offer new players free sessions during September so you can "Give Rugby a Try" before fully joining. From October we then alternate between training sessions and friendly fixtures with other rugby clubs. There is no streamed team selection and all members will have the opportunity to play in these fixtures, home and away.
We would love to welcome new members and ask you bring suitable footwear, gum shield (this is compulsory to be able to play) and a water bottle.
