The Tigers set up a repeat of the 2013 Cup final against NH Crusaders after battling their way past MK Wolves!

No wind and blazing sunshine combined with a bumper crowd all led to a cracking day at Putnoe Woods for the East RL Cup semi final clash against MK Wolves.

The Wolves have enjoyed a lot of success this season and had claimed the biggest scalp in the East just 2 weeks previous by beating the Crusaders, the first team to do so in over 2 years!

The Tigers knew it wouldn't be a walk over. However they started fast and aggressive and despite going a try down in the early stages always looked in control going forwards. Euan Irwin opened the scoring down the left flank before Pas Falces doubled the advantage with a barnstorming run down the right to touch down and continue his "try a game" record.

Sam Richbell would be next on the score sheet having reacted quickest to a bouncing ball in the in goal area to give the Tigers an 14-4 lead and as half time approached The Tigers would extend their lead further with two more from Euan Irwin.

The Wolves would keep themselves within touching distance though with two more tries of their own leaving the half time score 22-14

The second half continued in the same vein with the Tigers on top despite the Wolves stringing some colourful plays together and continuously asking questions of the Tigers defence.

The kept the game uncomfortable too by remaining within two scores until the 70th minute.

Second half tries from Jock Marshall and Euan Irwin's 4th of the game were matched by efforts from the Wolves but the reintroduction of Paul Ryder seemed to have an immediate effect as he himself ran in a try along with returning Richy Sinclair who looked as good in open space as he has for the past 7 years with the club.

Final Score 52-32

The Tigers progress to the final and face NH Crusaders on the 12th July!

Tries Irwin 4, Sinclair 2, Ryder, Marshall, Richbell, Falces
Goals: Richbell 3, Ashton 4 (from 6)
Man of the match: Euan Irwin, because nobody can argue with 4 tries!
