Match preview written by Zac Neal
Another pre-season friendly in for the Eagles as National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town travel up to the Eyrie. This will be Bedford Town’s sixth pre-season friendly so far.
The Eagles will be feeling confident for this game coming off the back of a solid 1-3 win against Harborough Town. This is also a big game for Connor Tomlinson and Liam Brooks who will both want to keep up their goal scoring as of late. Tomlinson bagged a brace against Harborough Town and Liam Brooks has also scored two goals so far since joining the club.
New signing Liam Brooks has impressed fans during pre-season
This is the second test against a step 2 side in pre-season so far. The last one resulting in a 1-1 draw with Peterborough Sports. Gary Setchell will want a big performance out of his players for what is sure to be a tough challenge.
Elliot Duffy has started the last few pre-season games between the sticks and has put in some great performances in place of skipper Alex Street who still remains on holiday. The 18-year old 'keeper will hope this continues against the Tudors. Danny Setchell and Tyrone Lewthwaite will also be looking to add to their goal tally as both have put in great performances and have a goal each to their name.
Hemel Hempstead Town are an established National League South side and have shown that they are capable of some upsets. The Hemel Hempstead fans and players are travelling 38 miles to the Eyrie today and will be the favourites to win this one. However, this definitely doesn’t eliminate the opportunity of an Eagles result.
Mark Jones has made a few signings recently such as Cole Dasilva and Bradley Webb. This will also be a chance for the new signings and trialists to impress those at Hemel Hempstead Town. So far, they have played Barnet and Morpeth Town in pre-season, losing 0-2 to Barnet and losing 2-3 against Morpeth Town. They'll be looking to turn this around but Gary Setchell and his players won’t make this easy.
Cole Dasilva is one of eight new additions made by Mark Jones this summer
A tight match between two good sides. It will be a game played to a good quality and probably be the standard of the National League South.
Best of luck to both teams!
