The Eagles host Cambridgeshire based side St Ives Town in the Southern League Premier Central Division. Bedford recently lost 3-1 against Basford United in a tough loss to take for the team.
Afolabi Soyemi-Ololade bagged his second goal in Bedford Town colours against Basford United in emphatic style. A definite contender for goal of the season as he flicked the ball up and did an acrobatic overhead kick to level the game for the Eagles.
Charley Sanders was sent off against Basford in a controversial decision from the referee. This came after the Lions player claimed he had been elbowed in the face. The Basford players swarmed the referee and he then decided to give him his marching orders.
This is the first home game in a while for the Eagles. The most recent home game was a 0-3 loss to Alvechurch. Since then, Alvechurch have progressed to the Second Round proper of the Emirates FA Cup after beating League One side Cheltenham Town 1-2 at Whaddon Road.
St Ives Town have had an average start to the season. The Saints are fourteenth in the table and one point behind the Eagles although St Ives have played four less games.
The Saints have been in some bad form lately. They lost 1-2 against Nuneaton Borough and 0-2 against Rushall Olympic in recent matches as well as drawing 2-2 with Basford United.
They went on a bit of an Emirates FA Cup run this season, but this was cut short by National League side FC Halifax Town. Jonathan Edwards has been amongst the goals lately; he has scored three goals in his last three games.
The first home game in a while for the Eagles and hopefully it is a good one. A big game for each side who are looking to climb up the table.
