Recent results haven’t gone Bedford’s way this year but make your way down to the Eyrie this Saturday for the final game of the season. Mickleover are in town as the Eagles look to end the season on a high.

Bedford lost 0-2 against Basford United on Tuesday to make it the thirteenth defeat in a row for the Eagles. An early goal from Ben Starkie and a second half strike from Anthony Dwyer sealed the win for United as they picked up the three points.

Finishing the season on a high will no doubt be the main target for the Eagles this Saturday. Bedford have remained without a league goal since the 18th of February when Rene Howe scored in a 2-1 loss against Stourbridge.

Casting our minds back to November, the Eagles travelled to the Don Amott Arena for a big game in Derbyshire. Mickleover ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Stuart Beavon and Andy Dales.

All four relegation spots have been confirmed now meaning the relegation battle is over. AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Bedford Town, Hednesford Town and Kings Langley have all been relegated down into step four football.

Recent games have meant that Mickleover cannot get a play-off spot as they are now guaranteed a sixth-place finish. It has been a great season for Sports but Rushall Olympic just about grabbed the final play-off spot.

Even though they have won ten out of their last fourteen, it wasn’t enough to sneak a play-off spot. Credit to the Mickleover squad for the excellent season they have so far. They have proved what a force they could be in the 23/24 season
.
Stourbridge were the last side to be beaten against Mickleover as they lost 1-2 on Monday. Stanley Anaebonam put the Glassboys ahead, but Mason Warren and Elliott Reeves won the game for ten men Mickleover.

Home form has been vital for Mickleover this season. They sit fourth in the league for home form and have picked up thirteen wins at home this season, only losing four.

In other news, the league title will be decided on Saturday as Tamworth and Coalville Town engage in an epic final day title fight! With both sides on eighty-six points and only two goals separating the sides on goal difference, it’s bound to be a thriller.

To finish the season off, a win would be ideal for the Eagles; but regardless, come and support the team for the final time this season! Be sure to stay behind after the match for a small end of season awards ceremony too.
