The Eagles picked up an important win at home to Biggleswade Town in a Bedfordshire derby as Bedford picked up their eighth league win of the season. Two early goals from Leon Lobjoit and a goal from James Clifton was enough to get the win.
Bedford got off to the perfect start and took the lead after just nine minutes. This came after some great work from Ryan Blake who set up Leon Lobjoit who calmly finished to make it 1-0.
Two minutes later, Bedford doubled their advantage and Lobjoit doubled his tally as well. A brilliant through ball was ran onto by Lobjoit who finished very well yet again to get his second goal in two minutes.
However, despite racing into an early lead, the Eagles were soon pinned back a goal. A corner into the box by Biggleswade Town wasn’t cleared properly and the ball event fell to Daniel Izekor who got a goal back to the Waders.
The Eagles led 2-1 at half time and were doing well but it was soon 2-2 after the interval. Biggleswade won a penalty ten minutes after the break which Ryan Doherty buried to level the game.
This didn’t stop Bedford pushing for a goal though, if anything it helped the team turn up the pressure a gear. The Eagles were pushing for a goal and looking like the more likely side to score next.
That goal eventually came in the seventieth minute when a corner was swung into the box and met with James Clifton’s header which found the back of the net. This header was enough to win a big local derby for the Eagles as Lee Bircham’s side march on.
