Butterworth joined the Eagles on a short-term agreement from Stamford AFC on 26th November 2021 and returned back to his parent club after the agreed three matches for Bedford Town.

In his short stay here, Joe scored 4 goals in 3 appearances, which included a hat-trick on his swansong appearance in the 5-1 home win over local rivals Kempston Rovers.

Some weeks later and Joe was back once again as an early Christmas present for The Eagles, signing permanently for the club on December 23rd 2021 and putting pen to paper again for 2022-23.
