Luca on form for Dynamos
U13's Dynamos 2-6 Risborough Rangers
Team: Edward; Ellis, Callum, Luca, Harry; Max, Charlie, Kai, Jake; Alfie, Owen (Subs: Jay, George, Conor, Dorian)
So the first 11-a-side League match was upon us, but the match nearly didn't happen. The pitch was in poor condition but luckily Mike managed to pull a favour from Aylesbury FC and get use of the main pitch. The referee was happy with this decision.
Matches are now 35 minutes each way, and Risborough had kick off to start the season.
Some early exchanges saw both teams just clearing their lines but soon Dynamos were attacking. Some good work from Kai saw the ball fall to Owen and he crossed to Harry who was on the end of it to slot it home. 1-0 Dynamos...we were off !!!
Risborough were straight on the attack and a through ball was cleared by the onrushing Edward.
8 minutes in and a long ball forward from Ellis found Alfie, he played in Owed but his shot was wide of the mark.
Within 2 minutes the score was level. Risborough broke through and the squared ball was buried by their player. 1-1.
Risborough were growing in confidence and the very next attack from them saw a defence splitting ball through the middle and the Risborough player tow poked it past Edward. 2-1 Risborough.
Max and Charlie were trying to keep possession in the middle of the park and releasing Jake and Kai down the flanks. 20 minutes in and Max won the ball and made a trademark run passed 2 players but his shot was blocked. The Dynamos passing was not as crisp as we had experienced before and Risborough were gaining control in the middle.
Callum was tackling well at right back and working well with Kai on the right side to create some opportunities. Dynamos just lacked that final ball or decent opportunity.
Dynamos then put a great move together. Harry got the ball on the left and played it to Jake. The ball moved to Max, Dorian and Charlie and Charlie played the ball across into the middle. Jake created some room and hit his shot under the keeper and into the back of the net to make it 2-2...! Great goal...Dynamos were back on level terms. 2-2 !
Then came a double whammy !!! 29 minutes gone and Risborough won a corner, the defence all missed it and at the back post was a Rangers player to tap it home past Jay. Disappointing but 3-2 Risborough.
Literally a minute later and a great through ball saw their striker hit the ball past the onrushing Jay and into the net. 4-2 Risborough.
Then again on 33 minutes Risborough were all over Dynamos and another ball through evaded Ellis and surely another goal. This time Jay made a great save, but unfortunately got injured in the process. Edward completed the rest of the match.
Half time - 4-2 Risborough.
The second half started and Dynamos were on the front foot now. Max and Jake were combining well and trying to set up attacks. Luca was playing well and having a solid game at the back.
39 minutes on the clock and a clearance by Luca fell to Dorian in the middle. He controlled and found Owen. Owen then took it round a player and knocked it out wide to Jake...he found room and crossed the ball but again Risborough cleared their lines. Next up Callum played the ball into Max's feet and he beat his man and played it to Kai. Kai skipped passed a challenge and hit a low shot across the keeper but just missed the target.
Risborough again turned the screw and they once again looked good moving forward. Yet another ball through the middle evaded the defence and a first time shot beat Edward from 15 yards out. 5-2 Risborough.
Within 5 minutes Risborough were at it again, this time a run a cross was not cleared and Risborough slammed in a 6th. 6-2 Risborough.
Dynamos did try and dig in again as heads were dropping and fitness was showing. Luca was still providing cover at the back. George, back from injury, and Alfie were back assisting.
At the other end Owen, Harry, Conor and Kai were all still probing forward and looking for that opening.
55 minutes and Dynamos had a corner. Charlie swung it in and it fell to Owen, his shot was blocked and the ball spun up, their defender half cleared to Conor who controlled the ball and hit a volley just into the side netting. Close...but no cigar...!?
A few minutes later Harry and Owen combined and Harry hit a cross but no Dynamos player could finish it off.
Final Score - Dynamos 2-6 Risborough
All in all a slightly disappointing start to the season after a promising start. Mike will pick some positives out and some things to work on at training. Our passing was poor today and has been so much better in training and the tournament. Some lads need to stay positive to themselves and team-mates on the pitch.
Kai looked good on the right, causing some issues and getting balls into the centre. Max had some moments of excellence in the middle, especially the first half. Jake and Harry were both on the scoresheet and Edward made some excellent saves and clearances during the match. Final word to Captain Marvel....well Captain Luca. Solid performance and never knocked off the ball. Keep that level all season Cap !!!
