Tattenhoe FC 2-3 Dynamos U13's
Team: Edward, Jay; Callum, Luca, George, Ellis, Harry; Jake, Conor, Owen, Dorian, Kai, Charlie; Alfie, Max
Dynamos came into this match on the back of two losses and now a top team from Milton Keynes League stood in their way for the Berks & Bucks Cup.
Tattenhoe looked a big solid team and we were in for a tough game. Within the first 2 minutes Conor won the ball in the middle and played the ball to Owen, operating in the midfield today, and he threaded the ball to Alfie and his shot whistled over the bar. Great start.
A minute later Tattenhoe broke through, beat the offside trap and slotted past Edward. 1-0 Tattenhoe.
Dynamos were asked to keep their heads and get on with it, and they did. 5 minutes in and Luca bulldozed his way through a tackle and hit a ball forward to Alfie but he was tackled just before he could unleash a shot.
Another Tattenhoe attack and Edward was equal to the shot, his immense goal kick went over the defence and onto Max who was running through. His first time shot went wide of the mark, but a cracking kick from Edward.
12 minutes and Dynamos were still passing the ball well and another well worked move saw Conor move the ball onto Jake, he skipped a challanege and played in the ever-willing Alfie, his shot was pulled wide of the mark. Moments later Tattenhoe had an attack but this time George was on hand to clear his lines well.
19 minutes and another great move...Max controlled the ball well and flicked it over to Alfie, he brought it down and laid it back to Charlie who pulled the trigger, but was wide of the mark...just.
Then Dynamos got the goal they deserved, but under controversial and strange circumstances. Owen win the ball and passed it out wide to Kai. Kai swung a ball over the defence but Alfie was offside...the linesman flagged, but Max, who wan't offside, ran through. Everyone stopped, the referee shouted play on and Max smashed the ball at the keeper who saved well....it landed back with Max who looked up and side footed past the keeper....GOAL...much the to the disappointment of Tattenhoe, but it was a goal. 1-1.
A minute later and Dynamos won a corner, this time Owen swing a fantastic ball into the mixer and it fell to Alfie who smashed it home from close range. 2-1 Dynamos and Alfie's first competitive goal for the team.
The next 5 minutes became a midfield battle with Owen, Charlie, Conor, Dorian and Kai all battling to get a tackle in and take control. With 29 minutes gone Callum moved the ball to Charlie and he skipped past a challenge and went off down the right side, skipped another challenge and ran some more, beat a third player, into the box but his shot was well saved...nearly a great goal.
The last few minutes saw Tattenhoe apply a lot of pressure and it became Callum-time...he dived into a number of challenges, tackled well and was clearing every attack that came his way. Arguably Tattenhoe's best player could not find a way past Callum....ever...!
Half time 2-1 Dynamos.
The half time talk was more of the same, keep the ball, firm passes, work for each other and they came out looking good. The first attack of the second half was for Dynamos. Jake battled well on the left and played a superb ball over the top to Max who went shoulder to shoulder with their defender, but he got a last ditch tackle in.
42 minutes and Tattenhoe won a corner. It came in and their tall striker rose to head the ball in. 2-2. This was going to be a thriller.
Dynamos were back on it and Conor and Jake combined again, this time Jakes shot was well saved. Moments later Kai was in action and his battling forced the ball through to Charlie and his first time shot was wide of the mark...but he was getting closer.
Next Tattenhoe were looking for the lead, they worked the ball away on the break but Owen's pace saw him make a vital challenge, then Callum was on hand to clear...it came back and the resulting shot was well saved by Edward. End to End action here!
Luca and Ellis were then next to take turns to clear the ball as Tattenhoe took control for 5 minutes. Another shot came in from distance but yet again Edward stood firm.
53 minutes and with penalties the result of a draw...both teams needed to get a winner. Charlie was busy in the middle of the park and he passed the ball out wide to Jake, a bit of skill and Jake played a ball to the right to Kai. Kai skipped past a challenge and hit a shot, but another great tackle saw the ball go out for a corner.
Less than a minute later and an through ball from Ellis saw Harry through, but the linesman flagged for offside.
Then possibly the best move of the match...Edwards kick fell to Dorian and he toe poked it through to Charlie. He took a touch and passed it out wide to Jake. Jake ran forward and passed to Max who came short to receive the ball, Max rode a challenge and got into the box. He crossed the ball to Luca who was in midfield after an injury and connected with the ball. It hit the keeper and then hit the post and keeper scrambled it away....so close.
63 minutes on the clock and surely this was it. Charlie played in Alfie and his shot beat the keeper....was it in....no it hit the post and a defender cleared...only as far as Ellis who came in and hit a thunderbolt shot but the keeper somehow saved it.
Two minutes later, and Dorian won the ball and played in Luca...he ran through on goal and hit the ball hard but again the keeper saved, the ball just wouldn't go in. Surely there was only one winner as Dynamos poured forward.
Suddenly Tattenhoe broke forward, this time Callum, who had been impressive all match, made a brilliant challenge on the edge of the area, winning the ball and Edward stormed out to clear his lines.
68 minutes in and surely the match was going to penalties...oh no...Luca and Owen combined to get the ball out the Charlie on the left side of the pitch, he rode a challenge and decided to unleash a shot from 25 yards out...it looped over the keeper and hit the back of the net. WHAT A SCREAMER !!!! 3-2 Dynamos.
There was still 2 minutes and injury time left and Ellis, Dorian and Callum were all on hand to clear any attacks...final score 3-2 Dynamos.
This truly was a great match and a great team performance. Too hard to mention every player but some solid performances out there. Edward made some more impressive saves. Ellis and Luca were calm at the back, clearing their lines. Mike deployed 5 across the middle and this seemed to work well for Dynamos. Conor played well and got a foot in when called upon, Dorian was impressive in the middle and Owen was very busy and looked a new player. Alfie had his best game so far and capped it with a goal. Charlie....WOW, what a winner !!!!
Final mention for Callum who was solid all match and looked so composed in defence. However...this was a superb team performance with every player working for each other.
