Dynamos suffer narrow defeat !
Ruislip Rangers 3-2 Dynamos
Team: Edward, Jay; Luca, Max, Ellis, George; Conor, Charlie, Kai, Oli, Aidan, Callum; Owen
It was an early Christmas present today from Dynamos to Ruislip Rangers. They let the opposition run through and score 3 goals in a match that, on balance, should have been a win for Dynamos.
Not sure if it was the long journey or just the boys were not up for the fight this morning...but the start was good...!
In the first minute, Max was called upon to clear the ball as Ruislip started strong. Within 3 minutes though, Dynamos were in front. Luca cleared up to Kai and he went on an early run up the right wing. His shot was saved and Callum was on hand to toe-poke the ball over the line and take the lead. 1-0 Dynamos.
It was a "sticky" match and neither side really took control of the ball, a few clearances, a few challenges, but not many clear chances as both teams were struggling to control the ball.
8 minutes in and Max shrugged off two challenges as he went forward and crossed to Owen who had his shot saved by the keeper. A few minutes later and Callum won a free kick which Owen hit but the keeper saved comfortably.
16 minutes in and Owen won a corner and took it himself, slightly overhit but Luca retrieved the ball but the low cross was defended well. Then Dynamos scored again...or did they?? Kai passed to Callum and he touched it on to Owen who beat the keeper, however, the linesman signalled offside...it was a close call, but maybe it was the right decision. Still 1-0.
Then a few mad minutes saw the score change...for the worse. Firstly Max went on a mazy run through the Ruislip team and got a shot off which whistled just wide. Then Ruislip went through and hit a superb shot which was equalled by Edward pulling off a great save.
19 minutes in and Ruislip attacked and Oli was slightly late in the challenge and ending up fouling the opposition attacker. The resulting penalty was superbly struck past Edward into the top corner. 1-1.
Five minutes later and George was at his best to clear up an attack from Ruislip and moments later Luca was on hand to thwart another opportunity.
27 minutes and Dynamos were still trying to get into the game. Aidan found Conor and his forward surge and pass to Owen saw a shot go over the bar and the first half ended 1-1.
Owen had an early shot in the second half which went wide as Dynamos started with more pressure. Next some excellent work from Kai and Callum ensured they got the ball through to Aidan but his first time effort went over the bar.
33 minutes on the clock and Ruislip were getting a foothold again. Luckily both Charlie and Luca were on hand to double up and stop an attack from them. Also Edward was called into action to save another shot.
Aidan was battling hard on the left and some great work saw him cross to Owen but his shot went wide again. Dynamos were having possession but not finishing the chances.
The next 10 minutes saw Ruislip turn the screw a little and Dynamos were on the back foot. With 40 minutes gone, Ruislip worked the ball wide and the resulting cross was bundled into the net by their striker. 2-1 Ruislip.
Minutes later Ruislip should have scored again but the ball whistled over after George closed him down just enough. The next few minutes and George, Luca and Max were all on hand to get some tackles in and clear their lines but Dynamos were struggling and the ball kept coming back at them.
53 minutes and the game still in the balance, the next goal would probably be crucial. Max had a long range attempt which was saved by the keeper at the second attempt, but then Ruislip ran through on their left flank, unchallenged, cut inside and unleashed a shot which sneaked in as it hit both posts and into the goal. 3-1 Ruislip.
Less than a minute later Max decided to go on a one-man mission to score and that is exactly what he did. A great run from the middle, out to the right and a cracking shot beat the keeper easily. 3-2 Ruislip and GAME ON.
The last couple of minutes Dynamos were unlucky not to get the equaliser. Firstly Kai swing in a corner which was met by Conor, the ball went back to Kai and he fizzed in a low cross which Callum got onto and hit the post and went wide.
The last minute saw Max have another attempt which was saved by their keeper. Final score. 3-2 Ruislip.
I asked Mike for a comment...but probably best to say he was not happy with the performance.
We were unlucky, it was a close game...however, Dynamos passing was poor, our control let us down, we struggled to control the game and ultimately paid the price. I am sure training will be tough on Saturday...
George had a solid game when called upon and Edward made some excellent saves and distribution was good. Final word for Luca and Max who had to be on their game all morning and were both impressive. Max - What a goal....!!!
