Haddenham remain Dynamos nemesis
Haddenham 4-2 Dynamos
Team: Edward; George, Luca, Max, Ellis; Charlie, Conor, Kai, Dorian, Aidan, Harry; Callum, Owen
With Bowlers still unplayable, Mike had managed to get the fixture played at Haddenham. The match started with a few cagey exchanges, but neither team could really put their foot on the ball and playing.
Haddenham played a few good passes and Dynamos were playing from the back with Luca, Max and George all getting on the ball early in the match.
5 minutes in and Edward was called into action with a fine save from a solid shot. Dynamos were struggling to find any rhythm but Aidan and Kai were starting to get joy on the wings and getting behind the Haddenham defence. Then the breakthrough....Callum surged forward and skipped past the first challenge, finding Aidan with his next touch. Aidan continued his fine goalscoring form with a firm finish to make it 1-0 Dynamos.
Haddenham defence was solid and their central defender was a mountain of a player (and well known to us) but we couldn't get past him. Edward was called into action a couple more times in quick succession but Dynamos defence kept out the threats. George in particular was cool and calm under pressure clearing up well throughout the first half.
20 minutes in and Ellis and Owen combined and the ball made its way to Callum but his shot went wide of the mark. Moments later it was Kai, receiving a pass from Charlie but his shot also went wide.
Dynamos kept up the pressure and Owen worked the ball to Conor but his first time shot went wide of the mark.
25 minutes and Owen and Kai then worked the ball through and Kai's shot hit the crossbar and went over. Dynamos were nearly 2-0 up and pressurising well.
Then, a momentary lapse in concentration (maybe another plane taking off?) and Haddenham were back level with only minutes left of the half. Half time 1-1.
The second half started but Dynamos were still struggling to get their usually excellent passing game together. A few times the boys were holding onto the ball too long and then getting tackled.
Then Haddenham got the lead when they broke through and finished the ball with a firm shot passed Edward. Dynamos were battling hard but were not getting the pressure they needed.
Max was battling well at the back and into the middle of the park. He had a great chance when he played a one two with Dorian and Max smashed the shot against the bar but Haddenham cleared their lines....just before Owen got in.
Charlie and Ellis were then busy in the middle and set Aidan free, his shot grazed the post and went wide. Dynamos could have easily been level.
47 minutes on the clock and Dynamos were back level in the match. Ellis won the ball well and played the ball to the ever willing Callum. He beat his player and played in Kai on goal...Kai fended off the last defender and hit his shot high into the roof of the net. 2-2.
Haddenham went straight down the other end and thought they had scored but luckily Harry had made it back to head it clear. Luca and Max were also called into action as Haddenham started to get a head of steam to look for the winner.
Kai was then on a mission, after some "words of encouragement" from Manager (Dad) Mike....! Kai skipped past two challenges and broke into the box but the Haddenham "big" defender didnt let him past and a shoulder barge on Kai saw him land in the fence off the pitch. To his credit Kai was up and at it again straight afterwards.
As the match was in the final 5 minutes, Haddenham had more pressure and they scored a great header from a corner to make it 3-2 Haddenham.
2 minutes later, the match was settled when Haddenham broke through the defence and beat Edward making it 4-2 final score.
So, it was a close game which could have gone either way, but Dynamos failed to release the ball on many occasions putting the team under pressure. Having said that...hitting the post and crossbar at least 3 times meant the result could have been different.
The defence were worked hard and Luca, Max and George were all playing well and clearing up when called upon. Callum was busy throughout the match and Aidan was on the scoresheet again with a great goal. Final word to Kai who kept the pressure up all game and was a constant thorn in their side. Onto Chalfont next week...for our first victory of 2018 !!! HNY !
