All three teams excelled at Aylesbury tournament.

DYNAMOS SO CLOSE !!!

On a muggy day in Weston Turville, the Aylesbury United tournament was held on Saturday afternoon.

Bedgrove Dynamos U10’s entered 3 teams :

Blue Team: Jay, Edward; Callum, Ollie, Conor W; Kai, Charlie, Harry; Owen

Yellow Team: Yusef; George, Jack H, Uwais, Kristan; Regan, Alfie, Sam, Vincent; Jack C

Colts Team: Harley, Josh; Connor T, Dillon; Kyle L, Benny, Colm, Jack; Ellis

Each team had 5 league matches and the top 2 from each group played a semi-final and then the final.

The Yellow team started the proceedings with a tough first match. Vincent went close early on and Jack H was excellent in defence with George. Sam popped up with the winner smashing a goal in from a tight angle. Great start.
The Blue team, not to be outdone, also recorded a win in their first match with Charlie getting on the scoresheet.
The Colts had a tough encounter but came away with a well deserved 0-0 draw.

The Yellow team then got a draw with Regan on the scoresheet this time. Uwais and Kristan played in defence and thwarted a number of attacks from the opposition.
The Blue team also struggles to make a breakthrough. Kai and Harry had chances well saved and Callum and Conor held firm at the back for a 0-0 draw.
Then the Colts decided to get their first win of the day for them when Kyle stormed through and casually slotted home from 8 yards out. Great goal and a 1-0 victory.

The Blue team then stepped up in their bid for a semi-final place with a fantastic performance against one of the pre-tournament favourites. Owen found his scoring boots again and scored 2 goals in the first few minutes, assisted by Callum and Charlie. Kai stepped up and hit a superb cross which was turned into their own net by a defender. In the final minutes Harry popped up with a tidy finish to make it 4-0.
The Yellow team then also went and won easily with a fantastic 3-1 victory over local rivals, United. Regan stepped up with a couple of great goals, the first a superb individual goal and the second set up by Vincent through the middle.
The Colst faced eventual winners from Milton Keynes and were soundly beaten 4-0 by an excellent team. Yusef was on form as it could have been more.

A victory in the 4th match would pretty much ensure the Blue team would be in the semi-finals and Owen again was on form to score a couple more goals and register a great 2-0 victory. Ollie played a great game in defence again and Callum was tackling hard. Jay was in goal and a couple of great saves ensured that both Edward and Jay had not conceded in the competition.
The Yellow team then had to play the Milton Keynes team but a poor start saw the opposition grab two early goals. Sam, who was getting some joy down the left flank then ran onto a pass from Alfie and slotted it home…a chance for the Yellows. Unfortunately Yusef was beaten at his near post by an excellent strike from their big striker…a 3-1 loss.
The Colts needed a victory to be in with a shout of the semi-finals and Colm grabbed a goal early on. Unfortunately the opposition managed to beat Josh in goal before the final whistle to draw 1-1. Jack went close to a winner when Ellis set him up but his shot went wide of the mark.

The final Group games matched up the Yellow Team against the Colts. This was a very tight game and the Colts took a deserved lead with Colm and Connor T combining to set Kyle through and he beat Yusef to score.
Knowing that a draw could be enough to get them through, the Yellow team started to get back into it and Vincent again battling well in the middle found Jack C and he in turn found Regan who scored with another superb finish. Both teams had chances to win it but a great game ended 1-1 between the two Dynamos teams.
The Blue team needed a victory to confirm top spot in their group and were rarely threatened. Callum set up Charlie who scored with ease to put them 1-0 up. Ollie was playing well at the back again with Callum and Kai and Conor W were playing well. Conor went close with a shot just wide in the final moments and Harry almost connected from a corner but the score remained 1-0.

So, the Blue team topped their group meaning they played the team who finished 2nd in the other group…and guess what, that was the Yellow team.
The Colts finished a very respectable 4th in the group and were only 1 victory away from making it themselves.

The Semi-final was by far the best game of the day. Both Dynamos teams were up for it and played out a fantastic match.
With Bruce and Iain managing the Yellow team and Mike and Arron the Blue team, there was some great banter with a huge Dynamos support again.
The Blue team started stronger and Owen had a shot saved by Yusef. Charlie and Kai both had chances to score but again Yusef was on hand to stop all shots. George was asked to keep Owen quiet and they both had a great battle.
The Yellow team had a couple of opportunities with Regan and Sam both going close and testing Jay in goal.
Then…controversy…Regan handled the ball after Owen hit a shot and the referee gave a penalty. Charlie stepped up…GOAL…no….wait, the referee demanded a re-take…not sure why. Charlie stepped up again but this time hit the bar and went over. Still 0-0…!
Full time arrived with a stalemate, no goals but a thrilling match.
Extra time kicked off and Kristan had an excellent start tackling well and setting up Sam for an opportunity.
Harry came on for Owen and with a penalty shoot out only minutes away, Harry came up with a great finish, set up by Charlie and Callum. Final score Blue Team 1-0 Yellow Team.

The Final saw the unbeaten team from Milton Keynes against the unbeaten Blue Team who had STILL not conceded a goal !
In what was their toughest match so far, the Blue team battled hard. Callum was having a great game marking their attacker and restricted him to a couple of chances only. Ollie was also stopping many attacks. Charlie and Kai had really put in a shift all afternoon and were still making runs, but looking very tired now. Edward was in goal and made a couple of outstanding saves to keep it at 0-0.

Extra Time again…both teams had a couple of chances to win the match but the 5 minutes went quickly and it was going to be decided on a penalty shoot out.

Each team had to nominate 3 penalty takers…Charlie, Kai and Harry stepped up.
The Milton Keynes keeper was in big chap and saved Charlie’s penalty. MK then scored their first past Edward. Kai stepped up and again their keeper saved the shot…the opposition scored their second and won the match 2-0 on penalties.

Blue team – What a great performance all afternoon, conceding no goals in open play all day! Well done Jay and Edward. Ollie and Callum were excellent all day in defence with Conor supporting when called upon. Kai and Charlie ran themselves into the ground. Harry and Owen were both banging in goals up front as well. Great performance and so so so unlucky not to win !

Yellow team – This was all about the excellent team management skills from Iain and Bruce..!? Ok…not really, Uwais, Kristan and Jack H were all solid at the back supporting George who was immense all day. Vincent was tackling hard all afternoon and never gave up. Jack C, Alfie and Sam put in a great shift too. Yusef was excellent in goal making some superb saves, especially against the blue team. Regan was the star again with 4 goals and some excellent skills.

Colts team – Finishing only 2 points behind the Yellow team in 4th place and only losing one game all day to the eventual winners shows how much they have come on. Dillon was supporting Connor T and Benny at the back. Colm and Jack were excellent all day and Ellis supported Kyle attacking too. Both keepers were on form with Josh and Harley making some great saves.

All in all, a superb day with the Dynamos family…!
