We take a look back through August and what is coming up in September

Finally its time for the thing we have all been hoping for…Rugby is back! After a long time out things are now moving forward and in place for the new season to start. Let’s take a look back over what happened through August and what is coming up at Bedworth RFC for September.

August was a busy month for Bedworth RFC where the mini and juniors held a very successful open day. This was a great opportunity to check out the new facilities of the club house and meet the coaches and introduce some new players to the game of rugby. A lot of fun activities were planned and was a great success. Training is ready to start back on Sunday 5th September with 10am start. More information is over on their facebook Bedworth mini and juniours
Thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work in making the day a good success for the club.
After that the club held a family fun day. There was plenty going on from bouncy castles, stalls and even dance acts throughout the day. The money raised from this event was going towards a defibrillator for the club. Again this was another really successful day with over £1074 made towards a defibrillator.
Club secretary Ali McHugh had this to say about the event:
" I am extremely proud and pleased to announce that from entrance fees and stall holders we have made £1074, combined with the raffle from drag night we have raised a grand total of £1178.50 towards the cost of defibrillator for the club.
A big thanks and shout out to all volunteers, without you this day wouldn't have happened. Of course big thanks to our superstars Becky and Donna.
Will research the cost of defibrillator and see how close we are.
Thanks again for all the support" Alison McHugh (Club secretary)

We now look forward into September specifically this weekend, Saturday 4th September. This is our first preseason game in readiness for the 2021/22 season. We are playing away to Stoke Old Boys with 3pm kick off. Lads have been training hard and are all looking forward to getting their boots back on after so long off. Whatever the result the main focus will be on making sure everyone enjoys themselves and gets the buzz back for playing. More details will be out this week on the game.

We then turn to Saturday 11th September where we play our next full preseason squad game this time at home to Keresley RFC. Again this is a 3pm kick off and full squad game. This is also our pitch up for rugby day and the official opening of the new bar/clubhouse so is a day not to be missed. It’s been a long road to get here but it is so great to officially have our own club house. More details will be coming out over the next week so keep eyes out for that. All support is welcome that day to cheer on the lads, enjoy a game of rugby and have a few beers after in the club house. We hope you can all make it and be part of new Bedworth RFC history.

Heading into Saturday 25th September, we are hoping to have two teams in action that day. It is the first team midlands 4 league game at home to Upton-on-severn. Our 2nd team are in league action away to Old coventrians Archers. Both have been set a 3pm kick off and all support is welcome.

Player sponsors have also started to come through and are getting announced once everything is sorted. Look out for these on the new look team sheets which will go out before the league games start from 25th September.

That brings us to the end for now. It has been a busy August and September looks to be keeping the momentum going. We hope you can all join us for this season and help cheer all the teams on the pitch to a successful year. Thanks for reading. See you all for the first game against Stoke Old Boys RFC.
