Great bonus point win against 3rd place-27-7. Tries from Nathan Sipson, Jakob Frost, Liam Kimberley and Greg Taylor with penalty and 2 conversions from Sam Croft.

Bedworth RFC was at home for this midlands 4 west (south) fixture. Claverdon were the opponents, who sat in 3rd place and Bedworth in 4th place only 5 points behind going in to this game.
Bedworth RFC started the brighter side going through phases well and keeping Claverdon inside their own half. Bedworth were very dominating in the scrum driving Claverdon back every time. It wasn’t long before all the pressure paid off though. With 5 minutes gone Bedworth were awarded a penalty-3-0 Sam Croft. Bedworth take the lead.

Straight from kick off Bedworth broke away again with the impressive Jakob Frost running through the defence and Ben Haywood running good supporting lines. This pressure led to Bedworth lineout just outside 22m. Bedworth set the ball and got good drive going. Claverdon tried their best to holt the drive bringing down the maul but Nathan Sipson peeled off the back and powered over for first try- 8-0 conversion missed. The first 10 minutes Bedworth packs were very dominate with Jakob Frost making good yards and breaking tackles.
Bedworth kept up the pressure and were awarded penalty on the 5m line. Bedworth Opted for the scrum. They get great drive on towards the Claverdon line but the ball comes loose allowing Claverdon to put the ball down. A Bit of ill-discipline from Bedworth after sees them marched 10m back and seen Ben Haywood yellow carded. Bedworth down to 14 men and Claverdon were able to clear their lines-20mins gone.

Claverdon make it into Bedworth’s 22m but some great tackling sees Bedworth steal the ball. The ball goes out to Jakob Frost who makes great break into Claverdon half, passes to Steve Harwood who draws his man and gives it to Sam Taylor who runs just outside 22m into touch. Bedworth win Claverdon lineout with play being just outside Claverdon 22m. Claverdon were making the extra man count as Bedworth seemed off the pace, allowing Claverdon to make some good yards.

Bedworth were now back to 15 and started to again put the pressure on Claverdon. Claverdon have lineout on 10m. Bedworth put the catcher under good pressure and steal the ball going through good hands in the backs going to right corner. Bedworth bring the ball back left to impressive Jakob Frost powering over for deserved score- 15-0 Sam croft conversion.
That score gave Bedworth a lift as straight from kick off Nathan Sipson went powering through into the Claverdon half and over the 10m. Some good play had Bedworth just 5m short- Bedworth penalty. Sensing the space Lee Bennett quickly taps to the on rushing Liam Kimberley who goes crashing over-22-0 Sam croft conversion.

Bedworth really was motoring now and going through the phases with ben Haywood breaking into 22m. Unfortunately Bedworth knock on this occasion giving Claverdon scrum and clearing their lines.
Bedworth keep up the momentum going through the phases. Nice hands in the backs freed up Greg Taylor, beating 2 defenders to score in right corner-halftime 27-0 conversion missed.
Second half Bedworth were off the gas. Not really getting out their own half but defensively not letting Claverdon through. Claverdon did eventually score with 70 mins gone and some juggling in the lineout from both teams seen Claverdon diving on the loose ball over the line- 27-7.
Bedworth started to pressure again going into the Claverdon 22m. Unfortunately Bedworth knock on and the Referee blows for full time. Bedworth RFC wins 27-7.

A great win against tough opposition. Some good performances from the pack being very dominant and the backs going through some good hands. Very well played Bedworth RFC.

Man of the match: Jakob Frost for his attacking play and performance deservedly scoring a try. Well done Jakob Frost.

We go again in league action away to Coventrians RFC Saturday 2nd February.
We look next to the Extras who played Claverdon 2’s in semi-final on Sunday. Can Bedworth RFC make it the double over these the weekend?
