Wishing all our friends and families a very happy and healthy Christmas.

Wow - what a year!

On behalf of all the players and coaching and medical staff at Belgrave RFC we would like to extend our best wishes to the whole Belgrave RFC family for the festive period.

Whilst 2020 has not been the year we had hoped, the club has achieved a significant amount, in spite of the lack of rugby since March. It feels like a long, long time ago since promotion was secured back to Midlands One. It is testament to the hard work and expert stewardship of the committee, ground and bar staff that we are able to say the club is in great shape - financially secure and in receipt of additional funding to assure Covid safety measures, the pitches and club house are immaculate, now all we need is a return to playing!

The wheels are in motion for a secure return to training, currently pencilled in for Tuesday 5th January, obviously this is subject to change pending any further regulation updates from the Government over the next few days. We have entered a mini "cluster"/league, which will see us face old rivals Syston and Oadby Wyggs, as well as high quality opposition further afield including Burton on Trent and Nuneaton. The players are chomping at the bit for a return to action.

Head Coach Dave Johnson has the following comments and wishes "I would like to wish everyone affiliated with Belgrave RFC and their families a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year. The tireless work from all at this club over the last 9 months through these testing times, to secure the club's future is incredible. Players turning up for fitness training with no game to look forward to, ground staff keeping the club house and pitches in tip top shape, committee raising funds to keep the club running with no income. These things often go unnoticed but not at this club, Belgrave RFC is truly a family orientated club. Well done all. "

Director of Rugby Dave Towl has similar sentiments "I would just like to thank everyone involved with the club for their commitment, support and efforts this year. Whilst there have been many challenges along the way, the togetherness and selflessness of many individuals has been unbelievable. To all our stakeholders, please have a happy and healthy Christmas and I cannot wait to share a beer with you, as soon as we can!"

Final comment comes from Club Secretary, Mark Crumbie "I am over the moon with the teamship and unity the club has shown through this period. I am delighted to say that we have managed to secure additional funding to further ensure that our facilities are Covid safe and compliant, special thanks and mention must go to Ben Austin for his help with this"

Stay safe and have a great Christmas and New Year.

MD.
