Written by a man keeping the Crellin family amused and helping the the Austin brothers finances

Today another visit from Oakham RFC in the 1st round of the County Cup as usual Mr and Mrs Crellin were there to support the club. They inform me that their Monday mornings are not complete until they have read my match report. This is pleasing to know as they are highly intelligent people with an excellent sense of humour, but you need to get out a bit more.
On the Belgrave side Mark Morrison from Thurmaston would you believe had a number 1 hit with "The return of the mack" in 1997.Today Belgrave had the return of the Kyles, the return of the Ord and the return of The Bean.
The match official for the day Mr Simon Hincks a RFU development officer from Coalville, who works in the county of Staffordshire. Belgrave yet again had a patched up team due to players not being available, injury and other kindred matters.Making his first team debut Tatendra Chirata 18 years.Nick name to follow.
On the kick off Belgrave defended the clubhouse end,the first 15 minutes saw them camped inside the Oakham 22,but the Oakham defence held, they were aided by Belgrave conceding 2 penalties.Belgrave failed to turn this advantage into points. All they had to show was 3 points from a Kevin(bungle)Curtis penalty.Another Belgrave attack through the forwards saw the returning Adam Ord score under the posts and Curtis convert.A long jinking 30 yard run by Will Armstrong pulled a try back for Oakham, this was followed by a try from Euan Cooper. At the half Oakham led by 12 points to 10.
As the second half progressed play was from end to end,Euan Cooper scored for Oakham taking several Belgrave players over the line with him.Oakham now lead by 19 points to 10.Coming on from the subs bench for Belgrave to make his debut Tatendra Chirata in place of Ben Austin of the infamous Austin brothers of LE4.
With time running out Belgrave pulled 3 points back with a Curtis penalty from 30 yards out, they then put the Oakham line under pressure but mistakes and dropped passes proved costly and Oakham ran out winners 19 points to 13.Belgrave beaten but fought on to the end.
A well cooked sausage ,chips and beans by Mrs Kyle in the kitchen, with her assistant and making her debut in the kitchen 13 year old Mollie Garner. On the subject of catering and functions there will be 2 Xmas meals this year, the first on 10th December and the second on 17th December when the 1st team will be at home to Stamford. Please see Bruce Ord or President Bob Kyle to book tickets for these ever popular events.
Next week a trip to Oundle RFC ,where hopefully will we see the return of the Pollard, the return of the Crumbie and the return of anybody else that can make it.
News of injuries Ben Austin not feeling well and taken to his bed.I will be going out with his brother Lewis to collect the weekend protection money. This is much needed as I bet Dumbarton Jimmy on Friday night in the Hoskins 2 pints of beer if he wore his Dumbarton FC shirt. He did and I lost.See you next week.
