Written by a man following a pillar of smoke, haunted by road works....

Having left home with Wayne the navigator we started to make our way to Leicester Forest RFC a short 8 mile trip along the A47 or so we thought. We arrived some 40 minutes later, thanks to Sir Peters road works and they are only going on for a year.Luckily we were guided by a pillar of smoke very akin to Moses and his pillar of fire, but it turned out to be smoke from Gary Chikopas house burning his South African rugby kit.
On arriving at the ground I noticed there was a slope on the pitch,I hope this comment does not cause as much trouble as happened to Jeremy Clarkson when he commented theres a slope on the bridge. The match official for the day was Paul McMillan who last officiated us when Belgrave played away at Stamford the weather was somewhat different to today,we had rain, hail, thunder and lightening followed by sunshine and then more hail and rain followed by snow.Conditions a bit better today Paul.
On the kick off Belgrave had the slope in their favour,Forest went ahead after 6 minutes with a penalty that went over having struck a post. They went further ahead when Kieron Stone crossed the line following a lineout and a rolling maul.
Belgrave then scored when Jamie(the cobra)Crumbie struck from behind a rolling maul to put 5 points on the board.Play became very even, with Belgrave not using the slope in their favour,Kirk Harpin then scored for Belgrave from a 5 yard run.Forest then put the Belgrave line under pressure for the rest of the half but the Belgrave defence held.At the half Belgrave led by 12 points to 8 in this keenly fought contest.
My search for famous people at the ground was in vain today,so I will have to make do with Old John at Bradgate Park which you can see in the distance. Both teams started the second half at a frantic pace,Craig(moony)Jackson dived over from the rear of scrum to score for Belgrave,Ryan Gillespie then scored for Forest with the pace of the game becoming more frantic.
A yellow card was given to Gary(g man)Chikopa for a deliberate offside,no moans here Gary you finished up on the A47.With the both teams giving their all,James Colthurst scored under the posts for Forest, which was converted.Forest now lead 22 points to 20 with the game clock running down.Belgrave then took the attack to Forest and sustained pressure resulted in a penalty in front of the posts which Kevin(bungle)Curtis duly slotted over,Belgrave now lead 23 points to 22 with only a few minutes remaining..
Forest then threw everything at Belgrave,I wondered where the kitchen sink had come from that was under the posts.Belgrave failed to get a drop out into touch which gave the the ball back to Forest for another attack,Belgrave now hanging on by their finger tips, they recover the ball Kevin Curtis finds touch and the final whistle blows,Belgrave win by a point. Both teams gave their all in this keenly contested game,it was a pity one team had to lose.
I have used the word frantic several times for Moonys history lesson today, a band from the 1950s Don Lang and his Frantic 5 who used to appear on the six five special on Saturday nights. But they were not as frantic as some of the play in todays game.
On the trip home believe it or believe it not ask Wayne, every set of traffic lights was on green and we got home without stopping, had Sir Peter been out and fixed the lights.
No idea on the fixture next week a cup round and by the way does anyone want a second hand kitchen sink, see you next week
