Written by an anxious man suffering from lack of sleep.

Todays match report starts in the Tom Hoskins pub on Friday night when Lewis(midfield flymo)Austin brother of Ben Austin, both known as LE4s answer to the Kray brothers announced he would be making his debut for Belgrave 2s against Cosby RFC.A brave act as he has never played before and it must be added he tossed up with a sparrow for his legs and lost.
Having spent an anxious sleepless night with what might happen to Lewis I made my way to the ground for todays fixture where Oakham RFC were the visitors to play the 1st team.A cold blustery day where coats and hats were the order of the day.
The match official for the day Duncan Wilson a sports teacher who resides in Hinckley, could you turn down the volume on those orange socks Duncan, although it must be said they could be seen from all parts of the ground so everyone knew where you were.
On the kick off Belgrave attacked the clubhouse end,Oakham took the game to Belgrave and pinned them back in their own half. The pressure mounted and James Beanland went on a 20 yard run for Oakham to score in the corner, this was converted by Callum Crellin,I thought I would give him a mention as his dad Keith is the Oakham match reporter.
Belgrave came back at Oakham, they had good field position put were unable to put points on the board. The ball then came to Joe(legohead)Pollard on Oakhams 22 with nothing looking on, he took off on a solo run and made for the line beating 5 defenders to score.Such was his footwork it looked as if he had changed his boots for dancing shoes, from a distance it could have been Fred Astaire but possibly not Joe is taller than Fred.
Both teams cancelled each other out for the rest of the half with Callum Crellin another mention for him there Keith adding a penalty, on the turn around Oakham led by 10 points to 5.
The opening play of the second half saw Nick Houghton cross the line for Oakham to make the score 15 points to 5,Belgrave gave away possession to Oakham with several wayward kicks downfield, desperate measures were called for and Coach Regan made that call.He brought on 3 replacements all at once,Ivan(evergreen)Wright looks younger every game and Tom Knifton in the pack, plus Gary(g man)Chikopa who is famous for going out with Kim Salisbury from Nuneaton who until today had never heard of Nuneatons own Larry Grayson,"Shut that door Everard"
This paid dividends as Belgraves pack took over and drove Oakham back over their own line for Tom Knifton to score,Joe Pollard then went on another solo run beat 2 defenders drew in the last one and off loaded to Callum Hollis who crossed the line to give Belgrave the lead.In the final minutes of the game Oakham fell inches short of a score and Belgrave managed to hold out till the final whistle, end of game score Belgrave 19 Oakham 15.A close fought encounter with Belgrave posting their first home win of the season.
News from the 2s a Belgrave win by 24 points to 16,hot off the press both Austin brothers in one piece and as good looking as ever.So calm down Jane all is well.A few beers in the Hoskins where the talk was of a chap called Vardy who ever he is followed by a night out at the Fan Club.I gave this a miss as I have never got over when it changed from the "Penny Farthing" its that long ago farthings were still legal tender as Sam Flanagan will tell you.
No 1st team fixture next week, next one on 5th December,Olney RFC away hope to see you there.
