Written by a man who witnessed a game of 2 halves and should have brought his hat and gloves with him, looking for Lewis Austin.

Before I start todays report a well done to Mark Crumbie and his son Jamie,Mark captained the 2nd team today and his son Jamie captained the 1st team. The question being is this a first for Belgrave with father and son as captains of both teams on the day,any further information on this please let me know.Get onto it you aged veterans.
Today the visitors were Leicester Forest RFC who in their home fixture to Belgrave lost by 23 points to 22,Belgrave winning by a penalty on the last play of the game so a hard fixture was to be expected.
The match official for the day Mr George Richardson from the nearby village of Rothley who is a sports coach and has been known to turn out for the village cricket team when required.
At the kick off Belgrave defended the clubhouse end,as regards the weather as can be seen from the title hats and gloves were the order of the day, guess who forgot to bring his.Belgrave got off to a flying start on the first play of the game Kirk(I've not got the legs) Harpin broke through the Forest defence and ran 20 yards to score under the posts. There back working then Kirk.
Forest came back at Belgrave but the defence held. After 20 mins a long kick downfield from the Belgrave half saw the ball bouncing around on the Forest 5 yard line.A Forest player failed to gather it and Joe(legohead)Pollard following up pounced on the ball to score in the corner.
Belgrave continued a wave of attacks, another long run run by Kirk Harpin who drew in the defence saw him put Dan Palmer away who ran into score from 20 yards out.At this point Forest had no answer to the Belgrave attacks.A quick tap free kick by James(chink)Dolan saw him put Joe Pollard through who ran in untouched from 10 yards out.I was going to mention he saw a chink of light at the end of the tunnel but it would be wasted on you lot.
Another penetrating run by Dan Palmer saw him set up a try for Callum(where's me boots)Hollis, who made ground down the wing out running the defence to score. Following on from last week where Joe Pollard ran from his own half and set up Kevin(bungle)Curtis to score, this week the opposite happened,Curtis went on a run from his own half and set up Pollard to score his third try.At the half Belgrave led by 34 points to nil in the gathering gloom, the question being was it caused by Gary(g man)Chikopa burning his South African cricket kit as at the away fixture at Forest he had burnt his South African rugby kit (see away match report).Never mind Gary things will get better but not this week.
At the start of the second half Forest took the game to Belgrave and pinned them inside their own 22.There then followed a game of musical yellow cards for Belgrave, the problem being there was no music. There were yellow cards for Lee(swinney)Swindin,Paddy Thompson and James Dolan.
During this time Forest came back into the game there were scores for Kieron Stone,James Coulthurst and shock horror the Belgrave pack pushed back over their own line for Kieron Bugby to score.Drastic measures were called for as another score by Forest would see them be only one score behind.
Enter the fray Belgrave sub, veteran Ivan(evergreen)Wright who took charge of the Belgrave pack and they took the ball into the Forest half for the first time after the musical yellow cards ceased..A rolling maul saw a second try for Kirk Harpin who was at pains to remind me after the match. Thanks for that Kirk.
The Belgrave pack continued to dominate and following a scrum Sean(quick thinking)Kyle picked up the ball and jinked through the defence to score. Full time score Belgrave 46 Leicester Forest 19.
An excellent chilli and rice from the catering ladies after the match with a refreshing cup of tea,my dry January is still ongoing.A quiet evening at the Hoskins with Ivan Wright,Dumbarton Jimmy and Tom(statto)Hunter, who will be back with us next week.No sign of Lewis(Reggie Kray)Austin rumour has it that his mum has kept him in this weekend after being found asleep outside the front door last week .
Next week an away fixture at Lutterworth who are above Belgrave in the league,so a tough game should be expected.Just off now to see if Lewis Austin can come out to play.See you next week.
