Written by a man going from calm waters to stormy ones,on the look out for on coming vehicles.

Having left the calm and tranquility of Cropston Cricket Club rained off again,5th time this season I made my way to Vipers RFC founded in 1920 where Belgrave 1s and 2s were the visitors.Paying particular attention to oncoming vehicles because as we know at this fixture last year Tom(statto)Hunter turned right out of the ground and finished up driving towards the oncoming traffic. But all turned out well and Tom and the Austin brothers are still with us.
The match official for the day Mr. Stephen (with a ph) Ralston from Lancaster on exchange from the Manchester Society,a teacher of mathematics, you could be needed with BREXIT Mr Ralston we might go back to old money.
The first half took the shape of Belgrave on the attack and could not score and Vipers defending trying to get out of their own half both teams cancelling each other out.During the half a yellow card for Jack Kyle.Half time saw the score at nil playing nil.To quote Hoi Chan 21 years a life long Vipers fan "both sides could do better" how often has that been written on your school report.
Both sides played with more intensity with the start of the second half,Kevin(bungle)Curtis slotted over a 40 yard penalty,a long kick through by Sean(quick thinking)Kyle saw the forwards take over with a rolling maul,Vipers conceded a penalty 25 yards out and Curtis duly converted.
Tom Knifton then crossed the line but was held up,with a 5 yard scrum in their favour Belgrave managed to concede a penalty and Drew(aches and pains)Graham got a yellow card.Yes I do follow facebook Drew. With Vipers looking to strike back they put the ball through the backs Joe(legohead )Pollard intercepted a pass and ran it back from the halfway line to score under the posts.Another Curtis penalty extended the Belgrave lead.Vipers kept their attacking pressure up but the Belgrave defence held.Final score Belgrave 16 Vipers 0
The second team result was 20 points to 5 in their favour with scores by Tatenda Chirata,Logan Winzar and Callum(wheres me boots)Hollis.also as well as Tatenda making his debut today, welcome to Miguel Pratas 18 years to the club.
An excellent opening day to the season.Having checked where Tom Hunter was I made a sharp exit from the ground making a left turn and arriving back safe and sound in good old LE4 still under the protection of the Austin brothers.
Next week a long trip to Luton,I will not be going but will fly drones over the ground to record proceedings for next weeks game report.
