Written by a man who never made it,but spent the day with royalty and dodging clay pigeons.

50 years ago this week it was goodbye the light programme, the home service and the 3rd programme and hello radios 1,2 and 3.The demise of housewives choice, music while you work and workers playtime, these programmes played a major part in the defeat of Germany in the last world war.I wonder how Tony Blackburn and co would have fared.
News from the Tom Hoskins,Bod is still keeping the Essex branch of the Belgrave supporters club going,Tom(statto)Hunter was unable to make the game as he was on a stag weekend again.Which included clay pigeon shooting. The rumour has it that at halftime the pigeons were winning 4 nil.
I myself was absent due to mixing with royalty at Swithland Village Hall. One of the Earl family childrens birthday,so this match report is third hand from information gleaned from players in 1990s fancy dress on their return from Luton and taken with strong drink.Plus a few phone calls calls on Sunday morning
An away match at Luton got off to a bad start with a delay on the M1 resulting in a late kick off on the plus side Bob Kyle and John Goddard won 2 crates of beer in the raffle,no prizes for guessing where they ended up.
As is normal when Belgrave play Luton it was a tough, hard fought game with no quarter asked or given.Luton lost a player to a red card in the 1st half and played a man short for the rest of the game.Despite this they put 19 points on the board,in reply Joe(legohead)Pollard crossed the line with a 30 yard run from behind a ruck, certain players tried to convince me it was a length of the pitch try.But phone calls this morning brought it down to 30 yards.Belgrave were also awarded a penalty try and Kev(Bungle)Curtis added points with the boot.Final score Luton 19 to Belgraves 15,a losing bonus point to Belgrave.
So Joe Pollard moves away to Chester which is posher than Leicester,I included him in the photo for you to remember what he looks like, those boyish good looks. No idea where he gets them from.Best of luck Joe.
No game next week,as its a cup round, next fixture a home game with Market Bosworth on 14th October.Walking to the Tom Hoskins on the lookout for low flying clay pigeons I was sure I could hear the strains of Alvar Liddell reading the 9 oclock news on the light programme, but perhaps not.See you next match.
