Written by a man with a sharp haircut,on the run from storm Brian, but rescued by 2 other Brians on the return journey.

Today a trip to Market Harborough RFC who at present are unbeaten and top of the league, this is always a hard fixture and would prove so today. On arrival at the ground storm Brian was in full flow, blowing hard down the Nene Valley,so hard it nearly disturbed my sharp haircut.
The match official for the day Mr Guy Gasper,an accountant from Oakham, who reads my match reports and reminded me that October 21st is Trafalgar day. Thanks for that Guy sorry but not doing history this week.
Harborough stalwarts Tony and Heidi Waterfield in charge of catering as usual, question, why was Tony in his cricket kit, answers on a postcard please to Heidi Waterfield.
On the kick off Belgrave attacked the town end, with both teams having an extra player in the guise of Brian blowing hard across the pitch. On 7 minutes Belgrave were awarded a penalty try and led by 7 points to nil.A counter attack by Harborough yielded (a good word for today) a penalty which Josh Haynes duly slotted over.
On 22 minutes Harborough put the ball through their backs and Harris Medwell crossed the line for a try,Harborough take the lead by 10 points to Belgraves 7.Another penalty kicked by Josh Haynes to give Harborough 13 points.Belgrave put the ball to their forwards and Tom Knifton dropped on the ball as the forwards crossed the line.On the conversion Storm Brian came to Belgraves rescue as the kick by Kevin(bungle)Curtis was sailing well wide of the posts,Brian blew the ball back and through the posts. At this point Belgrave lost Jamie(the cobra)Crumbie to an ankle injury and Kevin Curtis to a shoulder injury.Half time saw Belgrave in the lead by 14 points to 13 and all to play for as they say.
Famous people at the ground Isla Suffolk 5months with her parents,5 pounds 12 ounces at birth, thats another pound its cost me.But fame and fortune await her.
As the second half progressed the Belgraves forwards took the attack to Harborough and again Tom Knifton picked up the ball from 5 yards out and crossed the line.He then went off injured due to carrying all those players with him as he told me in the Tom Hoskins later.
With 36 minutes to go and the Belgrave sideline looking like the Atlanta stockyard scene from "Gone with the wind" circa 1940.Brian wasn't in that one.Enter the fray Ivan(evergreen)Wright to marshall the forwards.
Belgrave had several scrums on the Harborough 5 yard line but were held up.Harborough than stepped up a gear and took the game to Belgrave.Harris Medwell crossed the line for his second try of the day and in the dying minutes Josh Haynes drew in the defence to score under the posts.Full time score Market Harborough 25 Belgrave 19,a hard fought game to the end by both teams.Thats why I put the 1st aid box in the picture, both teams would be needing one.
The journey back to Le4 with Storm Brian still causing havoc,I brought in 2 other Brians to assist me,Brian the snail from "The Magic Roundabout" and Brian Brocklehurst who played double bass for Jonathan Cohen in "Playaway" many hours of fun to be had in how many ways you can pronounce his name.No X boxes in those days.So with a hotpot from Heidi inside me and my 2 companions with me,I managed to make it back to LE4,the usual suspects in The Hoskins messrs Austin senior and the 2 juniors, Tom Hunter,Ivan Wright and Tom Knifton. Where after a few beers we came to no serious conclusion other than I am on standby for the skittles match on Tuesday.I will keep you posted on whats going on next week.Must go now "The Big Country" on the TV.
