December starts with a bonus point win for Belgrave

Written by a man in a hurry without a satnav,having had his stitches out and passed by Ivan(evergreen) Wright in his time machine.
Following my injury last week stitches removed and back to normal.I am saying I did it while filming a remake of "The Big Country" the bit where Gregory Peck has a nick to the head when fighting the duel with Chuck Connors,who is then shot by his dad Burl Ives.Well it sounds better than falling over on the club car park.
Today a 57 mile trip to Olney RFC with only Frank Peake for company,no sat nav,only bits of paper with writing on,hence we arrived at the ground with only moments to go to the kick off and got the last parking space as there were three matches taking place.
The match official for the day Mr Nigel Boot-Hadfield,on the kick off Belgrave defended the houses end.Belgrave put early pressure on the Olney 5 yard line and after 3 scrums the Belgrave pack pushed over and Tom(my bodies broken)Knifton fell on the ball to score.Olney struck back and pinned Belgrave inside their own 5 yard line.Belgrave regained the ball after a valiant defensive stand and Sean(quick thinking)Kyle cleared to the halfway line and found touch.
The Belgrave backs came into play on the halfway line and Kevin(bungle)Curtis broke through to score,with 20 minutes gone Belgrave in front by 12 points to 0.With the game going from end to end Olney took advantage of Belgraves slack defending and their kicker Patch Adams put 6 points on the board to bring the game within one score.Belgrave then went a head through a planned move (I wondered what you did at the ground on Tuesday and Thursday nights) this move set up Roderick(weak ankles)Jonas with a cross field move to score under the posts,duly converted by Kevin Curtis.Half time the score stood at Belgrave 19 Olney 6.
The second half got under way with Kevin Curtis slotting over a long range penalty from just inside the Olney half,Olney struck back through their forwards and Gareth Cahill crossed the line,Patch Adams adding the two points.Olney continued to dominate the game through their pack and after 3 scrums on the Belgrave 5 yard line,the ball came back on the Olney side and Hamish Ball scored in the corner.The score now Belgrave 22 Olney 18 and all to play for.
The game clock read 70 minutes,Jack(splatt)Warren gathered the ball on the halfway line made 30 yards drew in the defence and set up Roderick Jonas for his second score of the day.In order to read this bit you had better sit down,the ball came to Ashley Clarke 40 yards out and on the wing he then went onto score beating the defence on the outside with astounding speed.Very akin to Prince Obolensky scoring against the All Blacks in 1936.On the final whistle Belgrave 34 points Olney 18.
Welcome to a new member of the team Coach Dave Towls daughter Evie who is now in charge of the kicking tee,you can't miss her the only one on the field in wellingtons and a wooly hat,both rather loud in colour.
A quick cup of coffee and then to The Hoskins with all dispatch as they say in navy,on the way Frank joined the sports report club,being in my car at 5pm on Saturday when the theme tune comes on and which we all know is "out of the blue" played by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force.
On arriving at The Hoskins the usual suspects Messrs Austin senior and Junior,Hunter senior and junior and the assembled throng,then a strange happening before we had finished our first pint who should come in but Ivan (evergreen)Wright who had played for 80 minutes,showered,changed and had his sausage and chips and nearly beat us back.
I can only conclude Ivan has a time machine or they have a transporter room at Olney as seen in Star Trek.Next week a home fixture with the usual kick off time.See you there.
