Written by a man inbetween the overs, going back in time and following a dodgy sat nav

For the opening fixture of 2020 an away match at Bugbrooke RFC founded in 1977,for the trip we followed Bamber and went passed several signs for Bugbrooke before arriving there, beware when following him his sat nav has a life of its own.On arrival I did notice the old red telephone box was still there in the centre.A little known fact is that in the event of the country coming into conflict with a foreign power this box will be the communications centre for the country, mainly because no one will think to go there. Its called corkscrew thinking.
On arrival at the ground Charlotte was on hand with the coffee, quick break now to watch Sibley get his 50.The match official for the day Mr Peter Hunt of The North Midlands Society who is employed by Aston Martin.
On the kickoff Belgrave attacked the sports centre end.The first 15 minutes play was very even,Belgrave mounted their first serious attack and Osian(much travelled)Davies scored in the corner following a 20 yard run along the wing.Bugbrooke counter attacked following several Belgrave missed tackles Elliot Holton crossed the line. Both sides cancelled each other out during this time both sides missed chances for 3 points.Bugbrooke then attacked from their own half and Ben Atkin scored after an excellent team try,as the first half closed Elliot(son of) Jackson added 3 points with the boot.Half time Bugbrooke led by 12 points to 8.Time to watch a bit more cricket I think.
The second half commenced at a frantic pace.3 pointers from Elliot Jackson and Dan Lawrence brought the score to 15 points to 11 in favour of Bugbrooke.
A turning point in the game Sean(quick thinking)Kyle given a yellow card for a one handed deliberate knock on,I thought he did well to get his hand to it.But rules are rules.Bugbrooke took advantage of the situation and Elliot Holton and Ben Atkin both scored to take Bugbrooke to 29 points.Bit more cricket to watch Joe Root get to 50.
Belgrave now with it all to do and they laid siege to the Bugbrooke line but failed to turn pressure into points, with the game clock running down and a scrum on the Bugbrooke 5, Elliot Walker peeled off the rear to score ,but too little too late for Belgrave final score Bugbrooke 29 Belgrave 18.The same score as Belgrave beat Bugbrooke by earlier in the season.
A big thank you to the Bugbrooke staff on the side line following a Belgrave lady supporter of pensionable age being taken ill. They helped with first aid and summoned an ambulance, thank you again, the said lady is now at home and recovering.
Followed Bamber back with his dodgy sat nav shall we say via the scenic route, a quiet night in The Tom Hoskins with the usual suspects one of who had been to Measham of all places and lived to tell the tale.Next week a table top clash where the visitors will be Leicester Forest RFC.Both teams have all to play for.
Always remember to be involved with cricket, its the only game that revolves around meal times and drinking beer,it can also be exciting as Craig(moony)Jackson will tell you. He's still not got over when Cropston were promoted to the premier league.See you next week.Back to the cricket for me.
