Written by a man with the folorn hope , waiting for the start and looking for the missing players

"The folorn hope" is the name given to a group of combatants chosen to take the lead in an operation where the going will be hard.Last used in the Peninsula Wars in the 1700s.Today an away fixture at Market Bosworth always a hard fought fixture going back over the years.Belgrave depleted by a number of players at the England game, some skiing and regular supporters In Coventry and Barbados.Did Wellington have this problem I ask myself.Belgraves man in charge Dave Johno had his mix and matching to do.Not unlike Wellington.
The match official for the day Mr Martin Williams a landscape gardener by trade with the present weather he is a mudscape gardener, cheer up Martin there will be a hose pipe ban soon.Nobody told me it was 3pm start I was fed up with waiting. On the kickoff Belgrave defended the car park end.
On the opening attack for Belgrave Sean(quick thinking) Kyle kicked over the top from Belgraves 22 over the try line,a foot race ensued and first there to drop on the ball and wind himself at the same time Niall(right place, right time)O'Connor .
The half continued to be a stalemate with neither side able to take the intiative, prior to half time a yellow card for Joe(lego head)Pollard,he thought he could turn the ball over,Mr Williams came at it from a different angle.Coming up to half time Bosworth put Belgrave under pressure and Tom Hiller scored under the posts Half time Bosworth led by 7 points to 5 and all to play for.
The second half got under way and Belgrave took the game to Bosworth making the most of his rest in the sin bin Joe Pollard came into the line and scored under the posts.Astute tactics by The Duke of Belgrave Dave Johno saw him introduce 2 subs Lionel Chikopa and Kirk(I've not got the legs)Harpin (as pictured). Both ran wild and free eating up the yards and taking the attack to Bosworth. An attacking scrum by Belgrave on the Bosworth 5 yard line,Chikopa ran with the ball, drew in the defence and put Connor(son of)Jackson in for a score in the corner.
Bosworth struck back with a passing move from their own half Sam Harding putting points on the board, the score being 17 to 14 in favour of Belgrave and Bosworth on the attack for the winning score,Joe Pollard clearing from his own 22 managed to get the ball to bounce into touch on the Bosworth 5 yard line and the danger was averted. This gave the advantage to Belgrave for the closing minutes and their forwards dominated Ash Lee crossing over in the corner to give the them their 4th and bonus point try.Final score Market Bosworth 14 Belgrave 22."A damn close run thing" as Wellington said at Waterloo or was Dave Johno.
A special mention to Osain(much travelled) Davies who shed blood for the team,I hope your nose has stopped bleeding by now and talking of noses Gary Chikopas has been fixed and should be ok for next season.Very handsome it is too
Next week an away fixture at Northampton Casuals that was postponed from last week .The question being will the folorn hope be needed, see you next week.
