Written by a man who came second in a cold feet contest.

For the first fixture of 2015 the visitors for todays match were top of the league and high flying Syston Rugby Club.I was lucky today as regards famous people at Belgrave as we now have our own.Star of stage, screen and Leicester Mercury the first child to be born in Leicester in 2015 Miss Lucy Rae Ord.Pictures of the happy parents Adam and Nicole can be found on facebook, along with Lucy Rae.We will no doubt be meeting Lucy Rae during the season, when she can watch her dad play,Hurry up back Adam the team needs you.
The match official for the day was Mr, Louis Massarella a house builder who hails from Cropston, home of that well known cricket team.Frequented in the summer months by the great and good of Belgrave.who come to consume the real ale and the tea. They have been known to watch the cricket on occasions.
On the kick off Belgrave attacked the clubhouse end,Syston soon showed why they are top of the league and put Belgraves defence under severe pressure. For 20 minutes the game was played inside Belgraves 22 yard line. But Belgraves defence held.Their first attack saw Belgrave enter Syston half for the first time.An excellent low kick through by Jack Kyle set up a line out for Belgrave.A catch and drive by the forwards saw Ryan Brown scoring on his first team debut.Belgrave now lead 5 points to nil, much against the run of play it must be said.
Syston soon struck back with Warren Coles crossing the line,Sean(quickthinking)Kyle was a bit too quick thinking and got a yellow card for thinking the ball was out.
Syston took advantage of Belgrave being down to 14 and coming up to half time scored twice with Jamie Skeritt and Sam Harrison crossing the line.At the half Syston led by 19 points to 5.
Whilst walking amongst the crowd I came across 2 match officials not doing games today, but have been to Belgrave many times,Mr Brucciani and Mr Bower. Both famous in their own right. You need to get out a bit more lads, there must be somewhere better than Belgrave on a wet and cold January afternoon. But thanks for coming.
Yellow cards again put Belgrave down in the numbers game and Syston again took advantage with Andy Jones,Matt Ferguson and Adam Davey all scoring.Belgrave battled hard to keep the score down,a magic moment with a Brant Wilson interception would this be his first try.But brought down before he got into open field.Final score Syston 41 Belgrave 5.
A hard working display by Belgrave against the top of the league. At the Inquest at the Tom Hoskins later we came to no serious conclusion. But yet again Belgrave showed their battling team spirit.
In the cold feet contest it was won yet again by Tracey Harpin who could not feel hers.I could just feel mine,so I came second.Next week a home fixture against Bugbrook RFC.Just off now to put my feet into a warm oven.Whilst compiling this report I was watching a fight between the Tigers and Bath and shock horror a game of rugby broke out.See you next week.
