Written in his own shorthand by a man with new boots on.

Today the visitors to Belgrave were Huntingdon and Districts to be called Districts in this report as the full name is a lot of letters to type out.A steady walk to the ground in my newly purchased boots,£14 99p from the Army Shop on Granby Street and into the teeth of a howling gale.
The snow of the previous couple of days had cleared and all was set for what turned out to be a keenly contested game. The match official for the day was Mr Richard Hadkiss an employee of Travis/Perkins in the plumbing and heating division, should be ok if the pipes freeze up at Belgrave.
At the kick off Belgrave attacked the clubhouse end into the the howling gale as previously mentioned, for the opening 20 minutes play was very even.Belgrave spent some time on Districts 5 yard line and looked likely to score but a penalty by Belgrave allowed Districts to clear their lines. After 20 minutes Districts took the attack to Belgrave and Jack Skidmore dived over the line to score which was converted.Districts 7 Belgrave 0.
On 32 minutes Belgrave won the ball from a scrum and put the ball through the backs with some slick passing the ball came to,Kevin(Bungle)Curtis who out ran the defence to score behind the posts, scores tied at 7 all.
Yellow card syndrome kicked in again for Belgrave and Ivan(evergreen)Wright was sent to the sinbin, for which one of the 7 deadly sins we have yet to find out.Belgraves pack then came into their own and took the game to Districts the ball came to Sean(quickthinking)Kyle who thinking on his feet sold several dummies and ran through from 10 yards out to score behind the posts. This was the last play of the half,Belgrave lead by 12 points to Districts 7.
During halftime I was asked if my notes were in shorthand,I have my own version, the original shorthand writing was invented by Sir Isaac Pitman in 1837 and is still in use today.Another boring fact for Mooney. Also at halftime I saw Liam Barnes who has had his knee op and in his words, " will be back before you know it"
Belgrave now had the wind at their backs for the second half and could exploit their kicking game.I did note that Districts touch judge for the second half was 13 year old James Gould, possibly the youngest one ever at Belgrave.Well done James, the youngest person to win the Victoria Cross was Jack Cornwell at the Battle of Jutland in 1916.He was 16 years and 5 months, that's another story but running the line is a good start. As the second half developed Districts ran the ball at Belgrave, who came into their own with the wind and slope advantage,Belgraves pack drove within inches of Districts line which managed to hold, but a driving scrum saw Tom Knifton drop on the ball to score.Districts hit back and Dan Malam scored under the posts and converted.Belgrave 19 Districts 14 and all to play for with 8 minutes left on the clock.
A long wind assisted clearing kick by Joe(legohead)Pollard set up Belgrave well into the Districts half,Sean Kyle ran 20 yards the pack took over and hooker Dan Palmer crossed the line to score.Belgrave saw out the game camped inside Districts 22.Final score Belgrave 26 Districts 12.An excellent well contested game by both sides
Man of the match Patrick Thomson returning after 12 months out through injury, who has a 100% record at the moment played 5 won 5.
Famous person at the ground and Districts supporter Mr. Roy Shutz who was the mayor of Barnet and leader of the council for a number of years. We could do with you here Roy the way our council performs'
After match de brief at The Tom Hoskins Ivan Wright admitted to being sinful and we all stood round and watched Craig(mooney)Jacksons black eye get blacker by the minute.
A well done to Belgraves juniors and minis who formed the guard of honour at the Tigers home game, see you next week for our next fixture an away trip to Ilkeston.
