Hatherleigh fielded a young Colts side augmented by overseas player Matt Thomas for the Buckley Cup visit by Belstone. The visitors started at ten an over and carried that rate on throughout their innings, ending up with their highest ever 20-over score of 198 for four. Five batsmen - Ryan Dennis, Brandon Horn (making his Belstone debut), Pat Ewen, Matt Dennis and Dan Fogerty - retired having reached 25 - with the wicket well over towards the pavilion the car park and roof were peppered with 18 boundaries and 6 sixes. The Colts stuck to their task well with Charlie Presswell picking up three wickets for 33.
The writing was on the wall for Hatherleigh after the second over of their reply, in which Eddy Jones took three wickets. Wickets continued to fall regularly except for Thomas and J Presswell who put on 50 for the sixth wicket before both had to retire. They returned at the end after all the other wickets had fallen but Belstone ran out comfortable winners by 73 runs.
