After Sticklepath won the toss and batted in this T20 Buckley Cup encounter openers Tallan Burns and skipper Julian Baker put on 50 in good time before Burns retired on 25 and Baker was caught at point by Brandon Horn off Tom Boother for 24. The run rate then slowed appreciably and wickets fell regularly including a hat trick for Alex Jopling as he clean bowled Letheren and Barclay and drew Sales forward for a stumping by Matt Dennis. When the ninth wicket fell Burns returned to the crease for a destructive couple of overs, hitting another 23 runs to finish undefeated on 49 out of a total of 113 for nine. Apart from Matt Dennis (25 retired), Belstone's top order of veterans, Colts and debutants struggled to get the ball away in the face of tidy spells from Will Barclay (4-0-21-2), Jim Mawle (4-0-12-0) and Burns (4-0-22-2) so that after 14 overs the score was only 62 for five and they were well behind the asking rate. However, a sudden acceleration from Drake (29 retired), Jopling (15 not out) and Harry Bushin (16 not out) ensured an in-the-end comfortable five wicket win for Belstone with more than three overs to spare.
