Springfield won the toss and elected to bat first. Unfortunately, we had only 9 players available, which made fielding challenging, but for the most part, the team were focused and did very well to keep Springfield down to 92. We had agreed to retire on 20 and only one of their batsmen managed that. Everyone bowled, including U11 Joe Marder, who had not played at U13 before.
Although we got off to a steady start with our batting, runs accumulated slowly. As this was a friendly, we agreed to rotate our batting to include everyone. Our run rate picked up and then the total we were chasing mysteriously increased to 95, which was unsuccessfully challenged. The players accepted the situation very well, worked very hard to chase the new total and were a credit to Bentley. Erica retired and was the only batter to be dismissed LBW.

This was our first U13 match and given we had a team of 9 made up of U13/U12 and U11s, all the players contributed to give Springfield a good game and with a couple of overs to go, the outcome was very much in the balance. All round it was a good experience and nice that Springfield hosted.
