We celebrate 100 years of football at Lower Kings Road this year since Berkhamsted Comrades were formed by ex-servicemen from World War 1 in 1919.

As a major part of that celebration, we have a Family Fun Day and 6 a side football tournament on Sunday 25 August from 1pm to 5pm, plus live music in the club house in the evening. We hope to attract support from the community to join in the family fun day, which features the attractions listed in the pictured flyer, and our aim is to raise money to donate to charities, The Hospice of St Francis and Help for Heroes.

The 6 a side tournament will also reflect Berkhamsted football history. 8 teams will take part and will feature teams managed by previous and current Berkhamsted managers and existing long-standing Berkhamsted Sunday League clubs, Berkhamsted Tornadoes and Gossoms End. Most teams will comprise of veteran players who have previously played at Broadwater, including a Berkhamsted Town FC Vase 2001 team managed by Steve Bateman. Other team managers with Broadwater connections include Roy Butler and Andy Stratford. It provides a great chance for old team-mates to get together and share a few memories in the bar afterwards.

As part of the social side of the 100-years celebration, local band The Denotones play in the evening in the clubhouse. Their set features 50s, 60s music (Elvis, the Jersey Boys, the Drifters, ‪Small Faces, ‪Buddy Holly etc) plus ska, reggae, disco, soul, Motown and much more in their fun show. Feel free to come down and enjoy the evening even if you have not attended the afternoon event.

We hope that the day will provide a fitting celebration of 100 years of football at a community-based club in the centre of the town and we hope to continue to grow and prosper for the foreseeable future. Please come along and see what the club is all about.
