The Comrades kick off the new year with a local derby against Aylesbury United at Broadwater on Saturday 1 January, 3pm kick off.

Berko will be hoping that some of the dozen injured/ill players will have recovered and be available again for this game. The postponed Welwyn Garden City game may have assisted in that respect and the players will have had a 2-week break since their last game, although that does not rule out possible Covid issues.

The Comrades go into the game in second place, 3 points behind Bedford Town who were held to a 1-1 draw with Biggleswade on Monday in front of a 670 crowd. Berko, however, have the benefit of two games in hand over Bedford. Although Aylesbury United are in tenth position in the league, we can expect a competitive game with them bringing good travelling support.

Many of the local non-league matches in recent days have attracted large crowds and we are hoping for the same on Saturday. The weather promises to be mild and dry so it’s a great day to start your 2022 football in the friendly Broadwater atmosphere? See below for everything you need to know:

PLEASE NOTE:

Parking is in short supply at the ground itself, but there are car parks at Canal Fields, St Johns Well Lane, and in the Lower Kings Road multi-storey, all of which are less than a five minute walk to the ground, and Berkhamsted Station is also very close for fans who might be travelling by train, with a large car park also available at the station. Our main sponsor is King Ace Cars (https://kingsace247.co.uk/) so it’s very easy to get a taxi if you’d like to stay and have a few drinks after the game.

Fans can enjoy drinks in the club house throughout the afternoon, and inside the ground food and soft drinks are always available at the well-stocked tea bar. Admission prices are as follows: Adults £8, Concessions £4, Unaccompanied children £2, and accompanied children free of charge. If you have a season ticket for a professional club, a 50% discount is available if you show the season ticket at the turnstile. For any groundhoppers, we still produce a paper program for each home game.

Payment can be made in cash at the turnstile, or via contactless card payment inside the club house. Pay at the bar in the club house, and you’ll be given a ticket to access the ground straight through the white gate, with no need to join the queue at the turnstile. If you’d like to show your support for the team with a hat or scarf, a selection of merchandise is available at the turnstile on match days, and a wider range of products, including replica home and away jerseys, are available from the club shop online at - Berkhamsted Comrades FC - Soccer Clubs - Soccer - Shop By Team (https://www.oneills.com/uk_en/shop-by-team/soccer/soccer-clubs/berkhamsted-comrades-fc.html)

If you’d like to find out more about commercial opportunities at the club, have any questions or suggestions for match-day improvements, or would like to become involved as a volunteer or even a committee member, please ask for Steve, Grant or Andrew and one of us will be delighted to have a chat. And if you can’t make it to any of our fixtures, live updates are posted on our Twitter account @BerkoFC – we’d love to get to 5,000 followers, so why not give the account a follow?
