After 173 appearances Ali Grieve steps back from playing

On Saturday against Lasswade, 1st XV Captain Ali Grieve pulled on the Berwick shirt for the final time.

Ali started in the back row as a young skinny lad before signing for Kelso. From there he moved on to Melrose for three seasons winning two Scottish cups, the Premiership, two Border Leagues and 4 tournament wins on the kings of the 7s circuit! He also went on to represent Northumberland and the South of Scotland in 7s before returning to Berwick in 2019.

On his returning season he helped Berwick to the East 1 league title and the National Shield at Murrayfield, finally earning promotion to National 2 in the following season. He has captained Berwick for the last two seasons as well as taking on a coaching role this season.

On behalf of the Club we thank Ali for all the hard work he has and continues to do for Berwick.
