Knox Academy from Haddington came down the A1 to Screm to experience the usual weather we serve up, wet and windy!
22 u13's from BRFC and Longridge joined by 9 u14's played against a joint S1/S2 team from Knox in 3x15 minute 'thirds'.
Possibly due to infamiliarity in the ranks we started slowly, with Haddington getting the better of us at the ruck. Despite this both try lines were redundant for most of the first third of the game. However, with time we found our feet and with some aggressive running we found a little space and managed to start rucking which gave us a few phases of possession to go forward.
The second third found us defending our try line for a good long while, quite effectively as Haddington struggled to break through. Maybe due to much larger numbers the last third of the game showed we had more energy running the ball back to Haddington when they tried to clear their lines. The weather meant our normally good handling was a little scrappy but we still managed to score a couple of good team tries, especially the last which showed good continuity and support.

With my u13 hat on for a moment a huge well done to those playing up, especially those playing up two years. Despite the obvious physical difference there was no real difference between application and desire between you and the older opposition, so well done. I look forward to seeing you all getting much more game time to allow for further development in other areas.
